"You sure look thrilled, Y/n." Kazuma teased. Ryunosuke smirked at you, thinking the exact same thing as your other friend. "Perhaps it's because we're going to Susato's tonight." They weren't wrong, you were thrilled, so thrilled to the point where you couldn't deny their allegations.

Susato, your long-time crush, was hosting a sleepover tonight to celebrate her birthday with you, Kazuma and Ryuu. The whole day you'd treated her to so many things, starting with breakfast at La Carneval and ending with purchasing some antique British ornaments. You weren't expecting her to hold something like this but it was a pleasant surprise, one that'd been the highlight of the day. The only thing keeping you from going insane from excitement was the pillow you held tightly in your hands.

"Face it, Y/n, you're only coming because you really like Susato." Ryunosuke said.

"You don't know that for sure." You grumbled.

"Oh, yes we do. It's so obvious that you like her!" Kazuma laughed. "Even better, she likes you back! She never shuts up about you during dinner."

You rolled your eyes in disbelief as the three of you reached the legal assistant's front door. You knocked once and in an instant, Susato slid open the door, smiling widely.

"How lovely, you made it just in time for dessert!" She exclaimed, pulling the three of you for a hug.

After you, Ryuu and Kazuma removed your boots in the genkan, Susato dragged all of you in the house where Professor Mikotoba greeted you warmly. You liked the Professor, he was a kind and gentle soul, albeit old.

"Be sure to have some mochi and shortcake, they're in the kitchen." He called after the four of you as Susato began telling you of all the fun activities she had planned.

After many board games and sweets, everyone was worn out and laying down on the tatami mats in the living room. Professor Mikotoba had gone to his room after playing a few rounds of Renju.

"So, are we sleeping in the living room?" You ask Susato, who was sat next to you.

"I was thinking we could sleep outside. The temperature is quite nice and it doesn't look like it's going to rain and I've already laid out some blankets."

"That's alright with us." Ryuu said.

Everyone walked out to the empty ground just outside the Mikotoba residence and set down their sleeping bags and pillows and whatnot.

The temperature was just right, not too cold and not too stuffy, and the blankets Susato had put down were very comfortable. You laid down on your pillow, underneath the star-stretched sky.

"Y/n, would you mind if I sleep next to you?" Susato asked, looking down at you.

"Of course, that would be nice." Butterflies rose up your stomach and a warm, giddy feeling invaded your body. You felt your face getting warm and desperately tried hiding under your blanket.

Kazuma and Ryuu were the first to fall asleep. You didn't know if Susato was sleeping but it seemed like she was since she was quiet. You, on the other hand, couldn't even close your eyes. Thoughts like 'what if I start snoring?' and 'what if I move too much?' flooded your mind.

"Are you not sleeping?" Susato quietly asked, turning to you slightly.

"Uh- no, it takes a while for me to sleep. On top of that, the stars are too pretty for me to take my eyes off."

"They are beautiful, aren't they?" She mused.

You were both silent for a while, not knowing what to say until Susato spoke up.

"Y/n, there's something I've been meaning to tell you."

Your attention was arrested and you turned to face her. She was wrapped in her blanket like a newborn, her face flushed because of the cool breeze. She inched closer to you, only a bit so as to not overstep any boundaries. You did the same, not realising how physically close you'd become.

"Are you alright?" You asked the half-asleep brunette, to which she hummed in response and closed her eyes.

"About what I wanted to tell you..."

"It's fine if you don't trust me enough to tell me. It really is-"

"It's not that I don't trust you, Y/n. I just- I don't know why I'm hesitating so much."

"You know, Susato, actions speak louder than words-"

"I like you, Y/n. Very much. One might even say I love you."

Your eyes widened. What are the chances that your crush likes you back and has the courage to say it first. Susato's expression changed from relieved to worried.

"I like you too, Susato." You smiled at her.

"Thank goodness! I was so scared by your silence, I thought you'd hate me forever." She said, yawning.

"Maybe we can talk more tomorrow. You seem pretty tired and Ryuu needs your help tomorrow."

Nodding, Susato closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep, finding solace in your body heat.
