DINNER WAS quiet that night. Evelyn and her mother had no idea what to say. Dustin on the other hand, picked at his food, clearly down over the news of one of his best friends going missing.

"I'm sure they'll find him, Dusty." Evelyn smiled, trying to offer her brother a comforting smile. "He probably just got lost."

"Lost?" Dustin questioned, squinting his eyes in disbelief from what he was hearing.

Evelyn looks at her mom for a second before answering with a small smile, "Yeah."

Dustin scoffs and shakes his head, "Unbelievable." Pushing his chair out, he stands up and leaves despite his mothers protests.

Evelyn frowned, she didn't mean to sound cold, but she also didn't know what else to say.

"Don't worry, sweetie. He just needs time." Her mother consoled her, giving her a reassuring smile.

Later that night, Evelyn laid in her bed, painting her toe nails a Ruby color, while talking to Carol on the phone.

"Im telling you, eve. Steve Harrington is going soft." Carol said over the phone. Evelyn laughed at her words. "I'm serious, eve! When has Steve Harrington ever dated a girl and chose her over all of us?"

"Okay, maybe you're right," She started, taking a small break from painting her toe nails.

Carol let out a hum of agreement. "But I also think he's just growing up, Carol. Finally ready for commitment."

Carol groaned at the response she received, unsatisfied. Evelyn continued, "Come on, wouldn't you like to know what it feels like to be with a guy who's only about you. Who doesn't sleep around behind your back?"

There was a small silence on the other side, "I guess.."

"Well, Steve's finally proof that it's possible." Evelyn chucked lightly, continuing with her nail painting.

"Okay, but aren't you a little upset?"

She furrowed her brows, confused. "Upset?"

"Oh, come on, Eve. We can all see how you feel about, Steve. It's no secret." Carol giggled like a little school girl. Evelyn rolled her eyes, scoffing in disgust, "Feel what? Absolute disgust?"

"No. You like him." Carol teased, "You guys would make a super cute couple!"

Evelyn's face scrunched up in disgust. Steve and her? Steve Harrington? "Ugh, as if!" She exclaimed, petrified by the thought of even holding hands with Steve.

Carol only laughed, amused by the reaction she got from the girl. "You know what? I'm hanging up on you. Goodbye."

With that, Evelyn hangs up the phone and stares at her wall. Her face still filled with disgust. "Ew!"
