It was finally Sunday and me and my mom were going to church. I finished eating breakfast and straight away went to find and outfit to wear as it was my first day going to church in Coal Creek.

I was finally ready and got my handbag out of my closet and put it around me. I got out of my room and hugged my mom thankful for her presence.

She got her keys and started the car and as I got in I got my cassette out and put a tape in it and put my headphones on as the car started to move. 🎵 Should I stay or should I go - The Clash 🎵 Started to play in my eardrums and I started to tap my foot to the beat. It was one of my favourite songs and every-time I heard it I could only imagine the first time that I ever heard it. It was Christmas and my brother had just got me a cassette player, he put in the tape and the song started to play we jammed out too it. He was happy that I liked the song because it was one of his favourites, and every Christmas time we would listen to it after that.

We pulled up to the church adrenaline pumping inside of me because I was going to see Lenora today, after not seeing her family for a whole day. After school for the past week I went over to Lenora's to hang out with her and get to know each other better, I even helped Emma a bit around the house. Me and Arvin didn't talk much but we did say hi and bye to each other. Me and my mom walked into the church seeing a few people there but no Lenora to be seen. We sat on the right side of the church. I kept looking at the door every few seconds to see if Lenora comes in. Finally the door opened and it revealed Lenora, Arvin and Emma. It's weird to see Arvin without his cap on.

I quietly went over to where they were sitting so I could say hi to them. "Hey guys!" I whisper tugging some loose hair behind my ear. "Heyy jade, i'm so happy you're here, I also get to meet your mom!!!!" Lenora said excitedly. I slid my way next to Arvin since that was the only space where i could sit with them. "Hey." Arvin suddenly spoke. "Hey Arvin." I replied. He smiled as he refocused on the preacher speaking about God.

An hour went by and we were about to leave the church. My mom came to where I was sitting when I left her and was shocked when she saw Lenora. "You must be Lenora, my daughters friend it's great to meet you and it is amazing that you are one of my daughters first ever friends here at Coal Creek!" My mom overjoyed that she got to finally meet the friend that I have mentioned countless times during the week. "And you must be Arvin, my daughter has talked about you too, your the young gentleman that helped my daughter bring the boxes into our house when we first moved here." My mom continued on probably overexcited about getting to meet the people that made me smile really big for a whole week. "Yes, that is me of course it was my grandma Emma here that told me it was the right thing to do, she always kept me on my feet." Arvin spoke looking at me with a smile probably trying not to laugh as he now knew that I told my mom about him. "It is amazing to meet you Jade's mom, your daughter is an angel." Lenora praised me still amazed at how I saved her life. "That's what i'd like to think, when my husband and I divorced she was there for me like she was there at the right time helping me through everything." My mom smiled glad at how great of a human being she raised me too be.

Arvin suddenly went outside for fresh air leaving my mom, Lenora and Emma to catch up. I followed close behind I needed some fresh air since I have been in a room for so long. "Hey." I spoke to arvin as he lit a cigarette placing it between his lips. "Hey." He replied back simply. "Why do you smoke those things? you know there bad for you and they could kill you." I pointed at the cigarette in his mouth trying to knock some knowledge into him. He shrugged, "I don't know they help with my stress." He said honestly. "Hey, I never got to thank you for the day you helped my sister that was an amazing thing to do and I think your a great friend for my sister." he said as he let the smoke that was in his mouth escape. "It really was no problem, I did what every girl should do in that situation, girls support girls that is the saying after all." He looked me in the eyes shocked at my response. "No problem? Every other girl always stares at her laughing at how she got made fun of and bullied by these boys, but you are different Jade Willow you did what all those girls should have done." He said as he stepped on his cigarette that was now on the floor. I looked down as I didn't really think of the situation that much. "You're a great brother you know that? You remind me of my brother before he died in a car crash." I spoke up trying my hardest not to have flashbacks of the day of the accident. "Im sorry that happened to you, Im sure your brother was as amazing as me." He joked trying to make light of the situation, earning a giggle from me.

We both went back inside the church as everybody got their jackets and we all started to walk out of the church to our cars. "That family is really nice, they're good for you Jade." My mom spoke approving of my friends.
