It was Sunday finally and I heard we were getting a new preacher at the Church, people were making meals to welcome him. I went to wake up my mom but she didn't feel well. "I don't think I can go to church today.." My mom coughed. "It's fine I can go with Lenora stay in bed mom!" I reassured her as I started getting ready to go to Lenora's house.

"Hey Jade, this is so exciting going to church together!" Lenora exclaimed excitedly. "Grandma is making chicken livers to welcome the new preacher. She is really stressed we are trying to calm her down." Lenora filled me in on everything."What if he doesn't like my chicken livers." Emma said stressing. "Oh hello dear how are you and your mom?" Emma said trying to sound happy and joyful as she always is. "I'm great Emma thank you!" I happily said. "I'm sure the preacher will love your chicken livers your cooking is amazing!" I tried cheering Emma up from her gloomy state. "If he doesn't, i'll beat him up like how I do to Gene Dinwoodie." Arvin joined in making a giggle escape from Emma.

We all got into Arvin's car even though it was very squishy it worked. "Take that hat off Arvin it is disrespectful!" Emma told Arvin off for wearing a hat into church. I chuckled at the scene, him taking his hat off in the process. "Hello reverend Teagardin." Emma sweetly said as she gave him the chicken livers so he could try them. He put two fingers into the juices in put them in his mouth trying it, Arvin clenching his jaw as he saw this happen. "They are amazing thank you!" Reverend Teagardin said with a smug look on his face I knew he wasn't being genuine and I think Arvin could tell as well.

"Friends..." Preacher Teagardin cleared his throat as he started to speak. He talked about God and how good of people we were for about two minutes and as he spoke, I heard a couple of people in the crowd "Amen" to what he was saying. "Y'all have been awful nice to me and I thank you all for the welcome." He said dramatically as he looked at Emma's chicken livers in disappointment. "But those poor souls that brought in them chicken livers, let's just say i'm inspired to preach on it for a minute." Preacher teagardin exclaimed, I raised an eyebrow at how two faced this preacher was, saying that he liked them and then insulting them infront of everyone? that was not right and it made my heart beat fast and my cheeks burn up. "Sure, some of us are better off than others, and I see a lot of white meat and red meat here on this table and I'm sure they eat mighty good sometimes." He spoke loud and clear. "But there are some poor people who bring in what they can... and those people who brought in them organs...Is giving me a sign that as the preacher of this new church I should sacrifice my self and eat those organs so that you don't have too." He spoke proudly. "Ass." I whispered to myself, Arvin hearing and chuckled. "He really is a douchebag."I looked at him and giggled. As we walked out of the church emma covered her face embarrassed by what had happened. "That preacher don't know what he was talking about, he is as bad as they get." Arvin clenching his jaw, I have never seen him this furious. "He is our preacher Arvin nothing we can do about it, he is right maybe my chicken livers weren't as good as you guys made them out to be." Emma tried making light of the situation. "Emma don't listen to him he is a big douchebag who only cares about himself for all it's worth I liked the chicken livers." I tried to cheer her up.

We got to there house and Lenora and I talked for hours. Arvin pacing around the living room and kitchen still mad at how somebody could be that cruel. Lenora went to the bathroom and I decided to talk to Arvin and see if I could calm him down a bit. "Hey, you still mad?" I asked him as he paced through the room. "My grandma is too sweet and I can't believe that preacher would embarrass her like that." He spoke still as angry as he was before but sitting down now instead of pacing. He ran his fingers through his hair as I sat beside him. "Do you want a hug?" I asked him hugs always make things better sometimes. "Hug?" he asked confused. "Yeah, maybe it will make you feel better." I suggested . "Nah, I don't do hugs.." He said looking down at his shoes then back at me. I wrapped my arms around his back and hugged him even though he didn't like hugs I knew it would make him calm down at least a bit. He hesitated for a bit and considered hugging me back, a couple minutes went by and he put his hands around my waist relaxing into the hug not even realising that he was. "See, do you feel any better?" I asked him in hope, "Yeah, thanks that made me calm down a bit." he said truthfully. "I still think he shouldn't have done that and I will probably hate him for the rest of my life." Arvin admitted. "Understandable." I chuckled lightly as I got up from the couch getting ready to leave, since I had to help my mom as she was sick. "Where are you going?" He asked disappointed that I was leaving since he liked my company. "My mom is sick and I need to get her medicine." I replied "Bye Arvin, can you tell Lenora I said bye she has been in the toilet for so long." I chuckled as I went to find Emma and say bye. As I walked out of the house I grabbed my coat, realising that it was raining and the store was kind of far from here I would have to walk in the rain. Arvin walked behind me. "Need a ride to the store?" He asked, I nodded as I got into his car.
