A bright light made you open your eyes shining through the slit of the boarded windows. You groaned, feeling the presence of another body against your own. Your cheeks reddened, the night before finally coming back into play and your sore body. You looked up at the sleeping figure, smiling to yourself. Chris looked peaceful as he slept, the most at peace that you've seen him since you've known the man. You rested your hand on his cheek, and kissed his forehead softly before sitting up. Your muscles and body ached as if you'd been hauling wood all day the day before. You tried to move your body, but found yourself being dragged to Chris's body.
"Did I say you could get up?" He grumbled, nibbling your earlobe. You smiled, forgetting about the fact that you were both in an old cabin while his men were guarding outside the house. His lips traveled down your earlobe, and down to your neck.
"Chris.." You whispered, letting out a soft moan. You didn't mind being woken up like this. Your mind starting to drift off what it would be like if you left the village with him, taking him up on the offer of leaving your homestead and getting out to see the rest of the untouched world you barely knew. He pulled you on top of his body, as he looked up at you.
"I could get used to waking up every morning like this." He smiled, pressing his lips softly to yours. He straightened hearing something break the small silence.
"Sir, we have a problem. The transmissions in everything.. literally everything except the walkie talkies are not working. You may want to come look at this." You heard his lieutenant say into the air.
Chris frowned, and sat up with you in his lap the gently slid you off. Grabbing his clothing. You watched in silence, knowing he would tell you to stay as much as you didn't want to. "I'll be back.." He grabbed his gun that was placed on the small night table, and went out the door. You slid a shirt on, obeying orders for once, as you went to the window, looking out the small peak. It was not sunny outside, the light that had blinded you waking up was snow. You squinted, making out the figures of Chris and a few other men surrounding the vehicles with their technological equipment. You were not able to see much of it, except the torn wires. Your heart raced, seeing the familiar work. The man who flooded your thoughts in the past. Your memories slowly starting to roll back into your mind.
"Karl.."
