Huaze Lei
This moment meant everything to me. I waited for her to take out the letter that would determine the gender. I heard her gasp slightly and she turned to me with excitement. I smiled at her as she held up the wooden letter in her hand.
I smiled, dropping the letter I held to wrap my arms around her waist to pick her up slightly. I spun her around holding on to her and she laughed happily. The confetti of pink sprung out into the air as we celebrated our moment.
Her arms wrapped around my neck as she let out a surprise, laughed and smiled at me. I slowly stopped spinning and placed her back on her feet. Keeping my hands on her waist, I leaned down to place a kiss on her forehead. I smiled happily at her feeling excited, happy, and a bit emotional for us.
Looking at Faye, this is very emotional and I could tell from her expression she is excited and happy to finally know we are having a daughter. I reached forward to fully wrap my arms around her to pull her in for a hug. Faye's arms tighten around me as our family friends cheered for our excitement. After having her in my arms for a few moments, I pulled away slightly and leaned down towards her ear to say something to her.
"Huaze Ming Yue," I said softly so only she could hear. I leaned away and saw her smile growing. She was glowing at this moment.
"I can't wait to meet her," She beamed. We both turned towards everyone. I looked towards Meizuo and Ah Si exchanging cash for their bet and I chuckled, shaking my head knowing Ah SI lost. My cousin Sui is clapping with joy with Sito Mo, Shancai, and Xiaoyou. Both my parents and Faye's were having a very emotional moment as they realize their first granddaughter is on the way. Moonbin and Gu Wei Yi were smiling as they said something to each other. Cha and Senior Yu Yin looked relieved to finally share the news to everyone and watched as we all had our moments.
"Who will be her godparents?" Meizuo questioned and everyone laughed at his eagerness to find out. It was not a surprise for him to ask. Once everyone settled down, I looked towards Faye and she turned to me slightly. She took my hand to intertwine with hers and I nodded to her. She turned to everyone, thanking all of them for being here and for supporting our journey. She squeezed my hand slightly as she spoke.
"There will be four godparents," Faye spoke excitedly. The chatter among everyone started realizing we decided to do more than two for our first.
"You're really going to spoil her," my cousin spoke out and folded arms with a knowing smile.
"I wouldn't expect anything less," I heard the last person to arrive. Everyone's head turned towards the garden's entrance to the backyard to see my long time childhood friend, Jing, entering. I smiled at her for her perfect timing as she walked towards us. I saw Shancai gasp with excitement while Meizuo and Ah Si looked very surprised to see her here.
"Jing!" Shancai beamed. I knew her flight had some delays and was not sure if she would have made it for the baby shower in time. She had a box in hand and another in a paper bag. She greeted everyone and apologized for her delayed flight from France. After a few minutes of conversation, Jing stood beside Meizuo and Ah Si before fully turning towards Faye and I.
"We're now about to find out who the godparents are?" Jing smiled softly. She looked directly and I laughed nervously knowing we had much to talk about later on.
"The first set of godparents..." I started off. "We have Cha and Jing." Cha had the biggest smile on his face. Jings eyes were widened and she looked between Faye and I. I smiled at my childhood friend knowing she must be having a lot of thoughts running through her mind.
"I'm very honored," Cha spoke out and bowed to Faye and I. "I'm very excited to play a huge role in her life."
"Ah..." Jing spoke in shock and Faye laughed lightly beside me. "This is a huge honor. I can't believe it... Lei is having a girl!!! And... I get to be a part of a milestone for you both." Jings eyes were glossing and I smiled knowing this meant a lot to her. "I'm so excited for you both!" Faye and I thanked Jing for being here.
My eyes shifted to Faye for her to announce the other two. She smiled nervously and took a breath before speaking.
"I'd like to announce Senior Yu Yin as the godmother," Faye started and Senior came over to us and she hugged Faye telling us it's a huge honor.
"I remember just last semester you talking about your future with Lei," Senior smiled at the both of us. "Faye, you deserve all the happiness and you've made me thankful for entering my life. You have become a little sister to me and I am very excited to be a godmother for your firstborn daughter!"
"Awe," Faye said and let go of my hand to hug her closest female friend. Everyone smiled at their sentimental moment. Once we were once again time to announce the final godparent.
"Who is the last godparent?" Sito Mo asked curiously and I felt a bit of the mood shifting slightly with our friends. Our parents were not aware, but everyone was unsure if the one person who Faye and I had the biggest connection with would be announced.
After weeks of decision making and carefully determining each godparent, I respected Faye's final decision with this. Even with yesterdays event at the competition did not change her mind.
"Is... Ximen the second godfather?" Gu Weiyi spoke his best without trying to sound annoyed by the mention of his name. Our friends shifted feeling unsure thinking about the many situations and emotions we have gone through due to Ximen. I looked towards Faye a bit concerned to see a moment of uncertainty in her expression.
This was hard for her. I knew this would be an issue. I let out a shaky breath as I took her hand to hold in hopes I can ease the pain of her private thoughts of him.
Both Meizuo and Ah Si were uncomfortable with this situation. As much as Ximen is still their closest friend, he could not be here. No one was sure how Faye was really taking this distance away from him after clarifying she did not want anything to do with him.
"No," she spoke softly. Meizuo's eyes widened and he looked directly at me.
No freakin way he isn't a godfather for the first child
His expression reading this could not be a good sign. Jings eyes were wide as well and looked towards me. Senior Yu Yin and Gu Weiyi were just as shocked to actually hear Faye's answer. Our friends looked towards me, waiting for one of us to announce who it was.
Our parents were shocked by this news but did not speak out on it.
"Then... who?" Meizuo questioned.
