The doors to the castle's lounge room slid open and Jason cracked an eye open, taking notice of Piper walking in, Will at her heels. "Are we at full power on condenser number five yet?" She asked the other altean, looking at a type of weird device in her hand. Jason didn't have the energy to ask her just what it was.

"No, it's still at 84 percent," Will answered, and when Piper looked up at them, a smile broke across her face.

"Did you form Voltron?"

"No, i'm afraid not Princess," Jason got to his feet, already sensing the unrest of the others at their 'nap time' being interrupted.

"Piper, that's my fault," Will jumped in before they could get yelled at, "I couldn't just watch them get beat up like that, and besides, there were a few injuries I had to examine." Piper's eyes roved over them, landing on the ice pack on Percy's head and the bandage wrapped around Nico's thigh.

"How did you get a leg injury in lions?"

"It was from yesterday," Nico answered, glaring at the princess obviously, "though getting hit by a laser and the red lion shutting down sure didn't help any."

"It's true," Will supplied, attempting to be helpful, "He passed right out! Though, hiding an injury didn't help either, now did it?"

It was Nico's turn to look away in embarrassment.

"What are we gonna do?" Percy groaned, flipping back down to his lying position, not caring if Annabeth had pushed his legs off of her. "We can't even form Voltron, how will we fight a whole fleet of ships?"

Jason had the same question.

Piper opened her mouth to suggest that they get back to their lions until they drop, but Jason held a hand up. "Princess, forcing ourselves to form Voltron isn't going to help any, especially if our hearts aren't into it. Humans have different limits than alteans and we're exhausted, I think we need a change in pace."

Piper put a hand on her chin in thought, "I suppose you're right, I should be mindful of your limits. The last paladins had a far closer bond than you five did."

"Oh!" Will brightened, and Jason feared whatever idea he had come up with. "Team bonding exercises could be a nice change in pace!"
Piper snapped, "wonderful idea, paladins, let's get to the training deck!"

Team... bonding? Like those stupid ice breakers schools made students do to introduce themselves to the class?

As it turned out, team bonding was not like that at all.

Piper and Will took their places from the viewing deck while the paladins were told to form a circle, their backs facing each other. "Great, so what do we do now?" Grover asked nervously. "Fall backwards and catch each other?"

"No no, it's not that simple," Piper announced, and Jason really hadn't been expecting it to. "The paladin code demands that you put your teammates lives above your own, so you must do so in this exercise. A swarm of drones will attack you, and you shall do your best to protect your teammates."

Without a warning small little drones exited the walls, very much unlike the triangular ones the Galra manufactured.

"Whoa, I don't agree with this at all!" Grover protested as Jason brought up a hand, forming a shield. Nico, Percy, and Annabeth did the same.

"Get ready Grover," Percy called, "Shield! Activate your shield dude-"

Too late, the drones circling them started to fire. Grover ducked and a laser immediately hit Annabeth's back, the floor falling from under her. Whoa, where had she gone? Not wanting to meet the same fate, Jason and the rest of them backed up into a tighter circle until Grover failed to shield himself.
