The gara cruiser hadn't crash landed too far from the castle, as it turned out. Annabeth and Jason had opted to get there by foot since Grover had begged them to collect samples of the herbs and plants on their way."That should be enough," Annabeth said as she packed away the last of the herbs in a bag, placing it in the paladin armor belt. Jason wasn't about to argue against the woman that had choked him out nearly an hour ago.
"Yeah," he agreed uneasily.
Annabeth shot him a look with those dove gray eyes of hers, as if she was analyzing his every move. Jason straightened at her attention, and she pursed her lips as if to say something, but instead turned away.
"Let's get into that ship."
Jason hadn't gotten completely used to the jetpack settings on their armor yet, and was a bit clumsy on his ascend to the wreckage, but Annabeth managed to make it look graceful with a large leap. Jason followed her movements as they soared over the ship to find a shredded entrance that Nico had probably punched through.
"Careful," Jason found himself saying after he nearly got himself decapitated on a large twisted chunk of metal on his descent down.
Annabeth hummed in agreement, but said nothing else. The atmosphere was tense all around them and Jason didn't know what he did wrong to warrant her silent anger, especially after she had falsely accused him of hurting her brother.
She was prideful, it would have to take her a moment after assuming something wrong to return to her full self, Jason realized.
"This place is giant," he found himself saying, just to fill in the empty space. His voice echoed throughout the unstable structure and the ship creaked and groaned with every step they took.
"The helm should be..." Annabeth hefted herself up onto a protruding slot of metal to stand and scan the area, before she pointed, "there!" She jet packed down to what Jason was assuming the front of the ship and he tried his best to follow after her.
She got to the control panel much before him, placing her hands on either side of the technology. She looked like she was about to hit the panel to activate it, but Jason interrupted her frustration. "It probably won't work, this whole ship is a wreck. We should leave before it comes crashing down on top of us." Jason didn't think his idea of a relaxing Monday afternoon was digging himself out of rubble with a passive aggressive Annabeth.
"No, this can work," Annabeth denied, "we just need a power boost to jolt this thing awake. Like a defibrillator or... or..." she trailed off as her eyes landed on Jason's arm. "Your arm!"
"My what?" Jason asked, raising his flesh arm to look at it curiously.
"No-" Annabeth reached for his prosthetic and manhandled it onto the panel. "Now activate it."
It took Jason an embarrassing amount of time to realize what she was requesting, and when his arm lit up a bright lavender color, the panel immediately flickered to life. The ship suddenly wasn't as dark and foreboding.
Annabeth's fingers were a flurry over the keyboard, and Jason only had a second to wonder how she understood the Galra alphabet before Annabeth yelped in satisfaction. "Downloading information now!"
Apparently, a little hope was all it took for Annabeth's attitude to shift for the better. Unfortunately for Jason, he would have to be the one to ruin the peace because he was the one to spot the large black coffin shaped ship breach the atmosphere in a flurry of fire.
"Annabeth," he warned, "how much longer does that thing need?"
"What? It just started downloading," she hissed, then followed Jason's gaze to the hole in the ceiling to find the ship headed directly towards them.
