Keep Driving; John BSummary: The summer after senior year, John B and Y/N take a road trip with no plan other than to make memories.
Note: In this imagine John AB's dad didn't go missing and there is no royal merchant. Just two teenagers living normal lives, happy and in love.
Based off the song 'Keep Driving' by Harry Styles
I sat in the passenger seat, my yellow sunglasses rested on my head as the breeze from the open window blew my hair back. I tightly held my polaroid in my hand, waiting for the perfect time to take a picture. John B sat in the driver's seat, his hands tapping on the steering wheel to the beat of some indie song, a small smile adoring his face. I looked over at him seeing how happy and content he looked. I knew I'd regret not capturing that moment forever, so I slowly raised my camera and pressed the button.

The sound of the shutter could be heard throughout the quiet van.
"Did you just take a picture of me?", John B asked, though he didn't sound upset, but rather amused. The smile never left his face.
"Of course I did", I replied, a small smile making its way across my lips, "Look how happy you look", I finished as I showed him the picture, the film was still developing, but you could see how happy he was.
This ones definitely a keeper, I thought.
All of a sudden the engine on the twinkie made a sort of rattling noise. John B and I glanced at each other, concern written on our faces. There was nowhere for us to stop to get it looked at.
John B looked at me, "Should we just keep driving?", he asked.
I shrugged and replied, "Might as well. Wherever it stops, is where we'll stay", I said with a sense of optimism.
John B agreed and kept driving. I looked out the window admiringly, watching the sun set below the horizon. John B took one hand off the steering wheel and placed it on my left knee. I look away from the window only to meet his gaze. He gave me his beautiful, loving smile, one that I returned.
God did I love this boy, I thought. The thought only made me smile more.
We pulled up to the old rundown motel. Not minding that it was sketchy and kind of gross looking. What did we expect? We're two freshly graduated, young adults with no money. The only way we were able to take this road trip was because of all the odd jobs we did. Even the most disgusting and pointless jobs couldn't take away from the way we felt. We needed to get away. And we did.
As we grabbed our room key, John B and I made our way inside. Both of us are barely able to walk due to how tired we are. Despite tiredness taking over every part of our body, along with the bed that looked oh so inviting, and disgusting, we both knew we needed a shower.
After placing our bags on the chair by the bed, John B looked at me, a cheeky smile on his face.
"Want to shower together?", he asked while wiggling his eyebrows.
"Sure", I replied as I let out a soft chuckle, "but no funny business", I waved my finger at him.
He held up his hands in surrender while shaking his head, "I make no promises", he replied. I jokingly gasped and slapped his chest, a smile still on my face.
We made our way inside the bathroom, neither of us said a word. I guess we were just so comfortable around each other that words weren't necessary.
We both began to take off our clothes as we waited for the water to warm up. I stared at myself in the mirror, noticing the dark circles under my eyes along with my knotted hair. I let out a barely audible sigh that did not go unnoticed.
"You look beautiful", he said as he placed his arms around my waist, his chin coming to rest right on my shoulder. He kissed my shoulder as we stared at each other through the mirror. There was no hiding my smile as I realized how he always made me feel wanted.
The water soon warmed up and we made our way inside. There was an intimacy that I couldn't quite describe. We weren't doing anything sexual, just standing there in each other's presence. It's like how we normally are, except without clothes.
"Can I wash your hair?", John B asked.
"Of course", I replied as I turned my back to face him. I felt him run his fingers through my hair, lathering the shampoo and conditioner in my hair. After rinsing it off, he turned around so I could do the same to him. It wasn't long until we both finished up or shower, feeling a little more like ourselves. After brushing our teeth, we made our way to bed.
"Coffee and pancakes tomorrow?", asked John B as he rolled over to look at me.
"Sounds amazing", I replied, pressing my back against his chest. He wrapped his arms around me.
"I love you", he said while kissing the back of my head.
"I love you, too", I replied as I grabbed one of his hands, reaching it up and placing a kiss on his knuckles.
"Goodnight", he said.
"Goodnight", I replied.
The next morning we both woke up, feeling more refreshed than ever. We got up and got dressed and proceeded out the door. There was a diner that we found not too far from the motel. We walked there and sat down at a booth in the corner.
As we looked at the menu, a young waitress came up. She was breathtaking and would not take her eyes off John B.
"What can I get for you?", she asked, not taking her eyes off John B.
John B looked at me and smiled.
"Coffee and pancakes for two, please", he replied, reaching under the table to grab my hand, giving it a soft squeeze.
She nodded and gave him a tight lipped smile. She turned towards me and gave me a fake smile before walking away to fill our orders.
He must of noticed my insecurity because he lowered his head to look me in the eyes.
"What's wrong?", he asked.
"Nothing, she was just really pretty", I replied with a sad tone, my head lowering to look at the table, "You should be with someone like her."
"I don't want to be with someone like her", he replied matter-of-factly, "I want to be with you", he added as he reached across the table to lift my chin up, my eyes meeting his.
"I will always love you", he said sincerely. I gave him a genuine smile and squeezed his hand.
"I will always love you, too", I replied with the same sincerity in my voice.
After breakfast we went back to the motel, packed up the van, and continued on our journey. As we drove, I lit a joint. There was no way I was not going to get high with this sea view right outside. Though I wasn't too keen on John B smoking and driving, there was no one around so I let him take a few hits. John B and I puffed and passed throughout the ride.
As we were laughing about a story John B was telling, we heard the engine make a sputtering sound. There was nothing we could do at that point.
"Should we just keep driving?", he asked again. I shrugged and continued looking out the window.
"Should we just keep driving?", I asked back, turning my head to look at him.
He chuckled as he took his eyes off the road to look at me. It could be because we were a little high, it could be because we really didn't care. Either way, we were going to just keep driving.
