Unexpected Job Offer

I put the car in park in the parking lot that has been paved in front of the apartment building. It was quite nicely decorated, with mostly white and bronze colors to make it look superior towards the others that were so closely built.

There was a doorman and even a red carpet that led to the front door. The doorman was in a red suit with golden add-on's, along with a hat that matches his suit, black shoes and white gloves for when he opened the door.

''Miss. Stone.'' The doorman greeted, it was usually a new one everyday and today was Richard. Richard bowed slightly and opened the door for me to go through.

''Thank you, Richard.'' I told the man, making him smile.

I walked past the front desk, where a lady sat, with her glasses down low on the bridge if her nose and her hair in a tight bun. She slouched down low, towards her paper and she wrote and wrote without stopping. Even to look up from the desk and see who has passed through the door.

The elevator dinged, as the doors opened and allowed me to come inside. I pressed the button to the seventh floor, watching as the button was illuminated by orange light. It took a minute, since where my apartment was located was on the top floor, and the elevator had other people that needed to be dropped off and brought to different floors.

Once the elevator reached the top floor, I stepped out and made my way down the long corridor that took left and right turns, until I reached the door that had numbers on the front in bronze, '1167' on it. I went to turn the key into the door lock, only for the door to creak open slowly.

I had locked my door before I left, who's here now? I stuffed my keys back into my pocket, slowly opening the door to see only the kitchen light was on down the small hallway, the rest of the room was dark.

''Who's there?'' I asked to whoever was in my apartment. Footsteps could be heard crossing my small kitchen space before appearing in the room, the kitchen light only showing half of his figure.

''Miss. Stone. Home at last, I've been waiting some time for you.'' The man spoke with a smile as he walked back into the kitchen. I stepped all the way through the door, closing it behind me and turning on the rest of the lights so I could get a closet look at the man.

''Who are you?'' I asked once I reached the kitchen area.

''Simon Masrani.'' He looked from the counter he had been inspecting and back over at me. The man wore a light grey colored suit and pants, that went along with a light purple undershirt, a gold ring upon just one of his fingers on his left hand.

Simon walked from the kitchen area over to the living area, grabbing the remote and turning the T.V. on until he found a suitable channel.

''And why are you here?'' I asked, dropping my bag in one of the kitchen chairs at the table.

''I am here to give you a proposal. A job proposal.'' He spoke, putting the remote back down on the little table next to the couch.

''I'm sorry, but I already have a job and I don't work in any office.'' I told the man, walking over to the kitchen counter and leaning against it, my back facing the counter.

''Oh, but this, isn't any job. Only specific people have been chosen for this job, I promise, no offices are required in your field.'' He spoke reassuringly.

''My field? What kind of job is this, exactly?'' I asked. Looking for an answer only got me a smile from Simon, who gestured towards the T.V. as a commercial came on.
