Welcome to Jurassic World ⤵
''Mister Masrani.''
The man dressed in the same purple suit as the day I met him, had turned. His arms outstretched when he recognized my facial features. A smile overcame his structured face, brows lifting in an unsuspected happiness. Although knowing.
His teeth blinded human eyes when the sun glistened against them. Praising for being able to keep a routine for clean teeth, I had so hoped he would keep his mouth closed to a certain extent while I'm around.
''Miss Stone!'' He greeted. His fingers held firmly against my hand, shaking it in slow reciprocating motions. ''Glad you could make it. The park wouldn't have been the same without you here.''
I smiled. ''Somehow, I highly doubt that.''
He laughed. He didn't take it to offence, thank the Lord. Although he got a clear message of my hatred for the place already. Even though we only stood at the docks. People steered clear, creating a large circle around us. Like a human protection system. If only they had the same for dinosaurs. The deaths that could've been prevented.
The third-party only made herself known when she cleared her throat. It wasn't harsh, but rather gentle and rushed. As if she was hurried. Like the clock was always ticking to some sort of deadline. Her hands folded neatly in front of her. A white blouse hung off her slim shoulders, fitted with a nicely added skirt that would drive any man crazy.
Under the white blouse, a lighter shade of purple was plastered on a tank top. Her pale complexion didn't do much to contrast against her outfit. But her hair, the color of ginger, had fixed that. Bouncing over her shoulders as she shifted, bobbing up and down with each movement of her head.
''Mister Masrani,'' She addressed her boss, flipping her wrist to catch a quick glance at her watch. ''It's about time to start the tour. You have a conference—''
Masrani waved a hand out, lazily stopping the girl. ''Sorry about her.'' He apologized down to me. ''Work, work, work. Live a little.'' He taunted her with a smile. The sun doing no justice for peering eyes. ''Miss Stone, this is Claire Dearing. Our Park Operations Manager.''
I held out my hand to hers and she took it gratefully. Her grip wasn't much compared to Masrani. It only lasted a few milliseconds before she pulled away in a hurry. ''The Jeep is waiting just at the end of the pier.''
''Yes, yes.'' He waved off with another tired sigh. ''Let's give Miss Stone a tour.''
''There will be no need.'' I shrugged it off, hoping to push away the subject. Claire led the two of us — Masrani and I — towards the end of the dock. Where a jeep stood guard near the fences. ''I don't want to waste the little amount of time you have out of the office.''
Masrani laughed. A hearty laugh. Like he's just heard the best joke since childhood. Possibly a dad joke, one of the awful ones but you grow to love and tell to others. Or maybe a knock knock joke, like the one about the orange or the cow. It could've just been a simple story to bring the receiver happiness.
He hovered his hand over his stomach, steadying himself. Claire glanced back over her shoulder, pulling her lips into a thin line before turning back around again. She seemed disappointed.
''I assure you,'' He assured with a hand on my shoulder. Patting it a few good times to weigh me off my feet. I stumbled but didn't fall. The luggage adding an extra weight to one side of my figure. ''There will be no time wasted. I own this place. I can't be huddled in an office all day long.''
