"All they ever did was use you... why can't you see that?"

I was woken out of my peaceful sleep next to my boyfriend by my phone ringing. "Hello" I said groggily. I didn't even see the caller id. "Hey Amari, We need your help." I heard Damon say on the other side. "What is it now?" I said. Apparently Caroline turned off her humanity and everyone is trying to force her to turn it back on. "I thought she asked for a year of no emotions?"

"She did but she doesn't know what's it's like to have no emotions."

"Damon give her a year. I'm pretty sure Caroline have more control over herself than you."

"Amari get your lazy ass up and get over here now!" He said hanging up. I look at my phone annoyed before groaning into my pillow. The noise woke up Elijah as he look at me confused. "What's going on Mari?" I look at him sweetly before saying I have to go. "Why?" He ask me as I got up and started to look for clothes to put on. "Apparently Caroline turned off her humanity and they need me to help her turn it on." He scoffs before turning away from me trying to go back to sleep. I look at him weirdly, why is he acting like this? "You ok?"

"Go help your friends Amari." My eyes widen at the attitude in his tone. Is he upset? "Elijah what's wrong?" I go to touch his shoulder but he just shrugs me off. Oh he is really upset, he loves my touch. "Elijah are you upset with me?"

"No amari. Go help your friends, they need you."

"I'm not leaving until you tell me the truth. What's wrong with you?" He sits up looking at me irritated. "You're always going to help your friends."

"They're my friends Elijah. I'm supposed to help them."

"But do they help you?" That question. That question baffled me so much, I couldn't answer it. "When your brother died, did they help you bury him?" I thought back to that day. I called Damon, Stefan, Elena, Caroline, hell I even called Matt and Tyler. They didn't show up and their excuse was "they forgot". "They didn't, but when Elena's brother died you was the one who help plan the funeral and comforted her."

"How about the time where they left you stranded in the middle of nowhere?!" Damon, Elena and I went to go find Stefan who was on a killing spree and when they found him, they left me stranded in a forest. "You called me to find you! But let Elena or Caroline need a ride home.. you drop everything to go and find them!"

"Oh what about the time YOU LITERALLY DIED HELPING THEM FROM A PROBLEM THEY CAUSED?!" Tears welled up in my eyes remembering that moment. Damon and Elena needed my help raising Mikael to kill Klaus and in the process Mikael sucked my blood dry. Elena and Damon left me there for Bonnie and Elijah to find. I watched from the other side as Bonnie fell to her knees sobbing while Elijah held my body trying to force his blood into my already dead body. "All they ever did was use you... why can you see that?"

Tears flow down my face as I recall all the times I have been there for my friends and none of my friends have been there for me. They weren't there when I lost my brother. They weren't there when I was tortured by vampires who originally wanted Elena but I decided to go in her place to save her. They left me for dead when Mikael killed me because their mission to kill Klaus was more important.

I pulled out my phone a killing Damon again. Elijah stared at me worried on what my next move was. "Amari are you on the way?" Damon ask. I wiped away my tears sniffling "No". Elijah's eyes widen in shock. "No? What do you mean no? We need your help!"

"I said no Damon. Just because you can't handle no emotions doesn't mean Caroline can't. Give her the year and hope for the best."

"God you're so fucking selfish. Don't call here asking for help ever again." He told me hanging up the phone. I broke down sobbing as I believe I lost my friends forever. Elijah quickly came to my side comforting me. "Shh.. shhh.. it's ok my love.. they didn't deserve you..."
