I stood on the balcony looking over the people who invested my home like pests, annoyance riddled across my face. I hate parties. I have no clue why my father decided to throw me a 21st birthday party but I hate it. "Oww stop it" I groaned as my best friend Bonnie hit my arm several times. "Fix your face" she said through clenched teeth. "You look constipated." I rolled my eyes before putting a fake smile on my face. "There you look much better. Now we have to greet your guests"

"But I don't wanna..." I whined as she pulled me downstairs. I would much rather be in my room with a book than talking to people who don't give an actual fuck about me and is here for the free food and drinks. "Well too bad. See there's the Salvatore's.." Bonnie said pointing at couples: Stefan & Caroline, and Damon & Elena. They're are not currently married but Bonnie and I have a bet going on who's getting married first. I have my money on Stefan & Caroline while she has money on Elena and Damon.

"Hey guys!" Bonnie said as she and I came to join the conversation. "Happy birthday Ivy!" Caroline squealed coming to give me a hug. I accepted it happily as I love Caroline's hugs. Everyone repeated the sentiment and I smiled thanking them. I happened to look down at Caroline's hand and saw something interesting.

"No fucking way!" She smirks at she notices what I'm looking down at. She lifts her left hand wiggling her left ring ringer. "Yes way!" We both started screaming as I give her a congratulatory hug. "Yes Bonnie you owe me money!" I rubbed in Bonnie's face. "Nope we said who gets married first, not engaged" She said technically. I hate her technicalities. "Whatever"

"Ivy!" We turned to see my dad beckoning me over to a group of people standing around him. I excused myself before walking over to him. "Yes father?" I took a look at the people who surround him. There was an older couple with at least 7 people crowded around them. Noticing how similar they look towards each other, I deduced that they were family. "Ivy, I would like you to meet the Mikaelsons." I waved politely giving a small smile. "This is Ester and Mikael" I shook their hands "Mikael Mikaelson?" I asked confused making two of the boys chuckle.

"No just Mikael" He said with a smile. I smiled back "ok Mikael"

"These are our children. This is Freya our oldest" She gave me a small smile and a wave which I reciprocated. "Finn" He didn't say or do anything. Just stared at me with an unreadable expression. "Niklaus" The only blonde son greeted me with a smirk. "You can call me Klaus, love" he said placing a kiss on the back on my hand. The man next to him rolled his eyes at his obvious flirting. "Boy!" Mikael snipped at him making him stand a bit straighter and his smirk fell off his face. I looked between the two noticing Klaus wasn't Mikaels favorite.

"It's lovely to meet you Klaus" I said with a smile. Ester continued introducing her children. "Henrik, Rebekah, Kol, and Elijah." Once she got to Elijah, I locked eyes with him. He looked familiar but I don't remember where. "Hello Ivy" Everyone looked at us confused, obviously not knowing that we knew each other. "You guys know each other?" Kol asked. Elijah nodded once. "Its lovely to see you again"

I stared at the hand he held out for me to shake. That ring.. that ring that sit on his left middle finger is so familiar. Now I remember where I know him from. Elijah Mikaelson, the guy who ruined my life. Not literally but back in my sophomore year of college, we were the smartest people in our class. We fought many times trying to be number one in class but inevitably he was the one on top. I couldn't show my face after that year so I transfer colleges in order to never see him again. Well that plan failed.

"Hello Elijah" i said trying to mask my irritation. "We are going to be merge our businesses together" I hear my father say happily. I snapped my neck towards him. "Excuse me?!" I questioned loudly. There's no way I would ever want to work with Elijah. "Yes we thought it would work better for the both of us to merge" Mikael explained. "Does that mean we have to work together?" I asked through clenched teeth. Please say no, please say no... "yes everyone have to contribute to the family business." My father said noticing the annoyance in my tone. He squinted his eyes trying to figure out why I seem so against the merge.
