"Alright. What's it going to take for you to at least try and be nice."

"Why do I have to be nice?"

"Come on Jane. You and her are the most important people in my life. Has she actually done something?"

"...ugh no. I am happy for you, A. Im just annoyed."

"Why?"

"It's just—it's nothing. You're right. Happy?"

"No, because somethings still bothering you."

"If I promise to try and be nice. Will you drop it?"

"God you're infuriating sometimes. Fine. I promise, just stop pushing me away Jesus."

"Okay, okay, I will. And tell y/n sorry. I know I pushed it too far." Your sister came and hugged you. You kissed the side of her head.

"Alright, thank you. I'll see you in a bit." Well, that went better than expected. You went back to your room. You saw y/n braiding her hair. She tended to do that when she was nervous.

"Hey, did you make up with Jane?" She turned to face you.

"Yes actually. She told me to apologize on her behalf. Which I know you don't like."

"Well if she actually told you then it's okay. I know she's just intense. We both are." She finished her side braid and held her arms out. You went over and hugged her close.

"So what's wrong?"

"Nothing, why?"

"Because you always braid your hair like that when you start getting nervous. You fidget."

She sighed, "I still don't like how I lost control today. What if I don't learn how to use my gift effectively. I don't know how to target specific people, under pressure anyway. Just a general area."

"Maybe that's a good thing. It's probably more effective that way, anyways."

"It's hard to stop it though." She said quietly. "If I can't figure out how to control it when it's serious....it's going to hurt you guys."

Your heart broke to see her like that. You hadn't thought of that as a possibility. She didn't want to get stronger, she just didn't want to not be able to control it.

"What if you practice on me?" You said as you pulled back to face her

"What?? Are you crazy? No. That's not even an option."

"No, seriously. Think about it. I can desensitize myself if gets bad. That way you can practice how much if your gift you want to exert."

"Alec. There's no way."

"Then do it on Felix. As soon as it gets too intense I can help him stop feeling the pain."

"No. I like Felix. But if you promise to help in case I can't control it, then I will practice on the guards."

You finally got the hang of your gift. Felix and Demetri helped you regular hand to hand combat so you wouldnt have to just rely on your gift in battle. You and Jane were both finally getting along. Everything was going great.

So of course, something had to go awry. You Alec and Jane were all watching a movie when Demetri and Felix stormed in.
