The next hour was agonizingly stressful. Right after the incident with Taehyung, you had rushed back to your desk to gather your things and had practically sprinted out the door, not even looking back in his direction.
After what seemed like hours of driving aimlessly, you were now in the comfort of your own home, pacing the floor while thoughts bounced around in your head.
What were you going to tell Namjoon? You knew he would be pissed, but how far was he going to take it? And would he believe you when you told him that you had rejected Taehyung?
As much as you didn't want to admit it, Taehyung was just as much in your head as Namjoon was. He had kissed you so soft, so delicately, and so not what you were used to with Namjoon as rough and dominating as he was.
Not that you were complaining at all about your love life with Namjoon, but you'd be lying to yourself if you said Taehyung wasn't taking up about 75% of your thoughts right now.
You smacked yourself lightly across your cheek. "Get it together, Y/n."
You finally walked over to your purse and pulled your phone out. You stared at Namjoon's contact for what felt like forever before finally tapping the call button.
The trill of the line was almost enough to make you hang up, but you knew it had to be done. No matter how painful.
"Hey baby."
You instantly felt a wave a calmness and relief wash over you as soon as you heard Namjoon's soothing voice.
"Hey you." Your voice shook slightly as you spoke.
"Are you okay? What's wrong? Where are you?" Namjoon immediately jumped into protective mode. You could hear him shuffling and knew he was getting ready to come see you.
"I'm fine, I'm fine. I just need to see you. Can I come over?"
Namjoon hesitated over the phone. The shuffling on his end stopped. Your stomach was in knots.
"Of course you can, baby. Want me to come pick you up?"
"No, I can just drive. I'll be there in a bit. I love you, Joon."
"I love you too, baby."
You hung up the phone and let out a deep breath before grabbing your keys.
The sun had begun to set beautifully over the horizon as you made your way to Namjoon's. Splashes of orange, yellow, and pink ran together in the sky, making the perfect color that reminded you of sherbet ice cream.
About 10 minutes after leaving your apartment, you dreadfully pulled into Namjoon's driveway. You had to absolutely force yourself out of your car and up to his front door.
Your mind was in a thousand places and you were terrified that he would break up with you because of what happened. You just got him all to yourself. You couldn't lose him now.
You rung the doorbell reluctantly and waited anxiously. Light footsteps could be heard before Namjoon opened the door, revealing his beautiful, dimpled smile. You instantly felt at ease. He had no idea how safe he made you feel just by smiling.
"Hey beautiful." Namjoon said, scooping you up into his arms. His large arms always made you feel so small when he wrapped them around your waist to hug you. Again, it made you feel safe.
"Hey." You whispered into his neck. You took in the wonderful smell radiating from his skin that was so familiar to you. It made you feel at home.
Namjoon set you down gently before leading you inside. The two of you walked hand in hand to the living room and sat down next to each other on his couch.
"Are you okay? You seem like something is bothering you." He asked cautiously, getting straight to the point.
You gulped quietly, unable to know how to start explaining what happened.
Seeing the conflicting thoughts in your eyes, Namjoon reached over and cupped your cheek in his hand. His thumb brushed over your skin lightly, calming your nerves in the process. You could tell he was concerned about you and you didn't want to trouble him. So you decided to just come out and say it.
"Taehyung kissed me." You held your breath and looked down, waiting for the explosion. You expected Namjoon to pull his hand away from your face, but he never did.
With your head still down, you continued to ramble on. "It was out of nowhere but he seemed upset with me that I had taken a personal phone call in front of him so I went to his office to try and smooth things out because I can't lose my job right now and he just walked over and kissed me out of nowhere and-"
Namjoon brushed his thumb across your lips, gently silencing you. You looked up at him with tear filled eyes, terrified of what he was going to say.
"Did you stop him?" He replied in a low tone.
You stared at him with wide eyes as he moved his thumb from your lips.
"Of course I did! I'm not interested in him, I'm in love with you!" Your voice rose slightly as you said the last part.
Namjoon removed his hand from your cheek. You felt your heart drop at the absence of his touch.
"That's all I care about. As long as you're not interested, that's all I'm concerned about." He spoke reassuringly. He looked at you with concerned-filled eyes.
"Well, I take that back."
Your breath hitched. Here it comes. He's upset.
"I'm concerned about whether or not you're okay. It sounds like he pretty much forced a kiss onto you. Are you okay? Be honest with me." He said, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear.
The tears that had welled up in your eyes began to flow down your face at the relief and love that you felt sitting next to this man. You put your hands in your face and began to quietly sob.
"Baby, what is it? Did he hurt you?" Namjoon's voice deepened at his last question. He was about to get angry.
"No, no, no. It's not that." You placed a hand on his forearm. "It's just...I was afraid you were going to leave me. I was so scared I was going to lose you." You looked up at him through your tears, blinking them away rapidly.
Namjoon stared at you, his mouth hung slightly open. 10 seconds passed before he spoke.
"Leave you? After I worked so hard to get you? There's no way in hell I'm ever letting you go again."
As happy as this made you, you couldn't help but sob more as you heard his reassuring words. The day had been so overwhelming and it was all just hitting you at once. You couldn't calm yourself down.
Namjoon brought you tightly into his embrace, resting his head on top of yours. You relaxed into his arms, letting the sound of his heartbeat calm you down.
"Please don't think I'll ever leave you. I'd move mountains for you." He spoke softly, the low hum of his voice vibrating through his chest into your ear.
Namjoon suddenly stood up, scooping you into his arms in the process. You gasped at the swiftness in his movements. He held you bridal style as he carried you upstairs.
"Let me run you a warm bath so you can let go of today."
You smiled to yourself. "I love you, Joon. So much."
He looked down at you and placed a kiss on your forehead. "I love you too, sweetheart. More than you know."
Aside from the fact that you would have to face Taehyung again at work tomorrow, all seemed well in your small world. Namjoon wasn't mad at you and you were pretty sure Taehyung had gotten the message when you rejected him earlier.
What you didn't know, however, was that Namjoon had plans of his own to get the message across to Taehyung.
