The next couple of weeks were especially rough on you

The next couple of weeks were especially rough on you. You and Namjoon had gone to the police station the next day for you to give your statement and then you went to your job to gather your things. Both of you had agreed that you would quit your job, take some time off, and make sure your mental state was well taken care of before you started looking for work again.

But the nightmares had started a few days later. Every night it was the same thing: you in Taehyung's office, eyes shut tight as he spoke to you. And although you woke up before anything ever happened, it was enough to start driving you crazy. You were beginning to become sleep deprived after waking up in a cold sweat every night.

Namjoon did his best to comfort you and help you back to sleep, but it never worked. You could never go back to sleep once you woke up. So you spent most of your nights watching Netflix and texting Jimin. Something that you could tell drove Namjoon absolutely insane.

Texting Jimin was harmless to you. He checked on you regularly after what happened, making sure you didn't need anything. But in Namjoon's eyes, he was a threat.

You knew in the back of your mind what his true intentions were and that he really wanted to be more than friends. But for the time being, you decided to focus on the fact that he was there to talk to you when you felt like you couldn't talk to Namjoon about it.

There were only so many ways you could explain your feelings to Joon and something about talking to Jimin felt different. Through no fault of Namjoon's, Jimin was the one to save you. So you felt closer to him in this situation. You felt bad for feeling this way but you couldn't help it.

You were sitting on the couch with Namjoon watching tv when your phone rang. You smiled brightly as you looked at Jimin's name on the screen. Namjoon glanced over at you, anger and jealousy building furiously as you answered the phone.

"Hey Jimin!" You said a little too excitedly.

"Hey beautiful. Are you free today?"

You hesitated as you looked over at Namjoon beside you who had resumed watching tv. You knew he was still listening even if he didn't look like it.

"As far as I know I'm not doing anything. Why?"

"I have a surprise for you. Can I pick you up around 6?"

You felt yourself smile but then stopped when you felt Namjoon looking at you. You didn't want to hurt Namjoon at all and you felt bad that Jimin always had your attention lately. But he was your friend. Namjoon would have to accept that for now.

"Sure. I'll see you then." You finally decided.

"Perfect. See you then. Wear whatever is comfortable for you." You could tell he was smiling as he spoke before hanging up.

You laid the phone down and looked over at Namjoon. His jaw was clenched as he bit the inside of his jaw. His stare was locked on one part of the tv, clearly not paying attention to what was playing. And his foot tapped the floor rapidly.

"Joon." You almost whispered.

"What, baby?" He said automatically, still not taking his eyes off of the screen.

"I know you're upset. But I swear, we're just friends, nothing else. He's been there for me through all of this and we've just gotten close." You sort of pleaded. Even if you planned on doing what you wanted, you still wanted him to be okay with this.

"And I haven't been there for you? Is that what you're saying?" He snapped his head toward you.

"No! That's not what I'm saying at all!" Your voice raised defensively.

"So, what? Because he saved you from that asshole, he gets all of your attention and I'm left sitting here while he steals you right from under me? Do I have to wait to rescue you from another horrible situation for you to love me again?"

You stared at him silently. Namjoon's words stung. You knew he didn't mean them, but he was upset and saying things he didn't realize had a lot of power behind them.

The fact that Namjoon felt like you didn't love him, whether he felt it momentarily or truthfully, hurt you deeply. You felt the tears welling up in your eyes as they spilled down your cheeks.

Namjoon's faced contorted into an expression of fear, no longer angry and jealous. He had hurt you after he vowed to never let anyone hurt you again.

"Baby, I'm sorry. I didn't mean that." He reached for your arm, but you pulled it away gently.

"I know you didn't. But it still hurt. I think I just need some space right now." You stood from the couch, grabbing your phone and keys as you headed for the door.

"Baby, stop, please." Namjoon stood, grabbing your arm lightly. He turned you back to face him, pulling you into his arms.

You cried quietly with your face buried in his chest. Everything had put a strain on your relationship and you hated it. You just wanted things to go back to normal.

"I love you Namjoon. I always will. I don't know how you could question that." Your words came out muffled as you spoke into his chest.

"I know you love me, I didn't mean that. I was just upset and it came out of nowhere. I'm so sorry, I'll never question it again baby. I promise." He pleaded with you.

You pulled away from him, wiping your tears on the back of your hand. "I still think I need some time to think. I'm going to go out with Jimin tonight because he said he has a surprise for me and I told him I'd come. I hope you're not too upset about it."

Namjoon looked at you lovingly, desperately wanting to ask you not to go, but not wanting to keep you too close.

"I'm not just jumping at the idea of you spending time alone with him. But I trust you and I want you to eventually be happy again. So I'll be here when you get back." He replied softly, wiping one last tear from your cheek.

He leaned down and planted a soft kiss on your lips, bringing warmth into the pit of your stomach. You really did love him. Nothing would ever change that.

You finally made your way to your car and drove to your apartment. You laid on your bed and stared at the ceiling before grabbing your phone. You opened your messages and began typing one to Jimin.

Y/n: I'll be at my apartment when you pick me up. Don't ask.

Jimin: Sounds good. I'll be there in an hour.

You looked at the clock at your nightstand, not realizing it was already 5 o'clock. You took a shower, threw on some leggings and an oversized hoodie, and waited for Jimin to pick you up.

For some reason you were nervous. This would be the first time you and Jimin would be spending time together, just the two of you. But he had already said that he wouldn't intentionally come between the two of you, so you were sure he wouldn't betray your trust.

What's the worst that could happen?
