The train ride was long and boring, but at least they were able to make it to their destination in time for the sun to come up. That was one day down the drain. Now, they had to be quick.
Walking out of the train, the heroes looked out on the Valentine Kingdom to see what they were working with. It was a rather fancy kingdom filled with greens, whites and pinks, decorated with lovely heart and hollyberry decor. "Hollyberry!" Mario thought aloud, "Yeah, that's who we're looking for first!"
(Espresso) "Yes, this is where the map says her soulstone is located."
Espresso pulled the map out from the bag, unrolling it and pointing to their current location.
(Espresso) "But we'll need to be granted access to the stone by Queen Jungleberry and King Royalberry. And they're not very easy to persuade."
(Clover) "Well...where is the jewel usually held?"
(Espresso) "That's what we need to find out."
With that, Espresso rolled back up the map and put it back into Captain Toad's bag. "Let's not make haste." Rosalina said, prompting the team to walk on down to the square to find the aforementioned king and queen. As they went, a few of them took notice of the fancily dressed inhabitants. Almost as if they fit right into royalty. Little cakes with dog-like features ran past them, barking happily without a care in the world. Apparently they were called "Cake Hounds."
(Custard) "AHA! Look alive, subjects!"
Suddenly, Custard jumped up on Yoshi's head to get a higher view, pointing his scepter at a pair of figures next to the statue in the center of the square. Possessing gracious crowns and fancily adorned pink and turquoise clothing, the same colors as most of the kingdom they've seen, they knew they had their monarchs. Upon closer inspection, it looked like the two rulers were concerned over something. And that something became clear when they noticed the gaping heart-shaped hole in the center of the statue they stood next to. Mario's eyes widened. That was where the soulstone was held...but where did it go?
(Peach) "Um...excuse me-"
(Custard) "Good day, fellow monarchs!"
The two drew their attention to the team as Custard jumped down from the dinosaur's head, landing on his shoes and bowing in front of the two monarchs, "It is with great honor that I, King Custard III of the Pudding Kingdom, and our Celestial Guardian treaty request of your help!" Silence rung out before the queen unamusingly gritted her teeth.
(Queen Jungleberry) "...Right. Anyway, I'm sorry but we canNOT deal with this right now...We're already having a hart enough time as it is..."
(Custard) "Well, we tried. Time to go home."
(Daisy) "Not so fast. Let the princess talk."
(Peach) "Thank you, Daisy..."
Handing Custard off to the side, Peach went to the front of the group to talk to the king and queen personally.
(Peach) "I'm sorry, but...We really need to know what happened to the stone that was on that statue...W-We need it for something..."
(King Royalberry) "I'm terribly sorry, but even in this case scenario, we can't be lending off queen mother's soulstone to a couple of foreigners!"
