The chase practically lasted hours. It could've taken up a whole day if the child hadn't run into a dead end barricaded with broken waffle bots and other debris. The group was able to catch up to them easily. The area they found themselves was a giant lab filled with blueprints, scrapped waffle projects, and even what looked like a prototype monster piano from that boo house. Oh god...no more trauma. It was time to focus on the situation at hand.(Mario) "Ha! Gotcha! Give us back the princess, you runt!"
(???) "Oh, you caught me! Pssh. I wouldn't count this as a win because I'm not able to escape, but whatever. You can have your princess back. I've done my analysis and she had nothing special."
The child shrugged, using their waffle arm to throw the princess back to the group. Mario ran out, catching her in his arms. "You ok, princess?" He asked. "Yeah...I'm fine..." Peach responded, caressing her hair behind her ear. The child then smirked, pulling out the heart shaped soulstone.
(???) "BUT. I assume you still need this, don't you?"
(Luigi) "Of course we do! Please, give it to us!"
(???) "Hmm..."
The child fiddled with the soulstone in their mechanic crepe arm for a minute or two, before snickering, "Nah! I don't think so!" they then clenched their fist, and when they opened it again, the soulstone was gone like magic. They then began to walk over to a pull-string in the left hand corner of the room. "You see..." They began, "While my people were fighting two whole waves of enemies, I've been wasting away in a cryogenic sleep pod for a good majority of my life. And when I woke up, everyone was gone!"
(Luigi) "Do we really have time for a monologue, bro?"
(???) "So many days of being alone...so boring...nothing but scraps of waffle, pancake, and French toast to tinker with. But then...I found General Carmine! He promised me if I helped him revive Lord Koopa, He would give me my family back! I would never have to be lonely again! I'll never take down that offer! So if you really want your trinket..."
The child then pulled down the pull string, and down from the ceiling came a giant robot made of waffle, pancake, toast, whipped cream, and lots of strawberries. The guardians looked on in surprise. How could someone make this big of a robot with just breakfast batter?! The child giggled, climbing into the cockpit.
"Let's play a game, shall we?"
