Part 13

I awake to Kade humming to himself and playing with my hair. "Kade?" I question still in a haze of sleep. "Sorry baby did I wake you." He asks. "What time is it?" He looks over at the clock before replying "it's four thirty." I groan at the early hour and realize he hasn't slept. "You need to sleep my love." I say while lifting my head to look at him. He looks so tired and I'm surprised I haven't noticed it before now. "You're safe here babe. I'm safe here. It's ok for you to sleep." He doesn't reply but drops his eyes and slightly turns his head away from me. My heart squeezes at his pain and an idea pops into my head. I wiggle out of his arms and lie on my back and open my arms for him. "Come." I urge and he lays himself on top of me and rests his head on my chest. I kiss the top of his head and wrap my legs around his waist. "This is what's going to happen, you are going to breath with me and listen to my heart until you fall asleep. And I am going to stay awake so if anything happens I will have time to wake you. Deal?" He looks up at me and rubs my face before nodding and laying back down. I play with his hair as he does as he was told and soon I hear him lightly snoring. I smile to myself that my plan worked and grab my phone to entertain myself until he wakes again. A few times I catch my eyes falling shut but I quickly correct myself so I don't sleep. I know he wouldn't blame me if I accidentally did but I want him to trust me and know if I say something I mean it. I continue playing with his hair and massaging his head as I watch the hours go by on the clock. Soon the sun rises and I hear my friends sneaking their guests out of the cabin before returning back to their rooms. The sun gets higher and higher in the sky and I hear my friends leave their rooms for the day. I don't want to wake Kade because I know this is the only sleep he will get but it's getting later and we need to pack our stuff before the buses come for us. I decide to wake him no later then two if he sleeps that long because the buses will arrive at three thirty. At twelve Maleek peaks his head into the room and I quietly explain the situation to him. He nods his head in understanding and exits my room. He comes back a few minutes later with a water, croissant and a bowl of fruit which he places on the bed beside me. I thank him repeatedly and before he goes he says he will also pack up Kades things so I don't have to worry or rush him to wake up. God I love my friends, they're beyond great and this gesture was extremely helpful. I eat my breakfast and return to playing in his hair. At one thirty Kades arms tighten around my waist and he starts to stir himself awake. "Wakey wakey baby." I singsong into his ear and he purses his lips for a kiss while keeping his eyes closed. I comply with his demand and rub the sleep from his face. He slowly opens his eyes and says in the sexiest morning voice "good morning gorgeous." I smile and reply with a good morning of my own. He untangles himself from my body and gets up to stretch. "How'd you sleep?" I question him with a smile and sit up to cross my legs on the edge of the bed. He sighs in relief and grips my face between both his hands while leaning down and kissing me deeply. He pulls slightly away and looks into my eyes as he says "thank you. I had the best sleep I've had since the incident. I'm forever in your debt Ms James." My smile grows and he drops his hands from my face, and stands back up. He turns to the mess of dishes beside me and raises an eyebrow. "Maleek brought me breakfast." He looks puzzled for a minute before looking towards the clock which now reads one forty. "Fuck. I slept that long, I'm sorry to have kept you trapped for so long baby." I shrug and reply "you needed the sleep. But now that you're awake we should go find the group." He nods and as if on que our friends barge into my room and are startled to see us awake and in conversation. "Ah good we were just on our way to come free Valerian from your grasps." Lucas jokes to Kade. "No freeing is needed Lucas, as you can see Vale has been let loose for good behaviour." Kade relays back with a wink to me. I throw my legs over the bed and after greeting all my friends, make my way into the bathroom to get ready for the day.
