Officer Karlile exited the room, along with Parker and my dad. The second the two laid eyes on me, I could see the anger rising inside them. I'm sure everyone could.
We were led to a room where I would be along with a new female officer. I had to strip of everything other than my underwear and bra. She photographed my injuries before allowing me to redress and join everyone again.
Once it was all over a few more words were exchanged before we left and headed home. In the car, I just let the last bit of the conversation play over in my head.
"Okay. Thank you. That's all I need to know for now. If I have any further questions for you we'll contact you." Say officer Karlile after we've finished everything.
"Okay." My father responds. Coming up behind me and draping his arm over my shoulder. He pulls me into his side and I finally feel somewhat at peace. For now.
"We'll be making a stop at Mr. Brodens residence to question him either later today or tomorrow." She smiles reassuringly at me before opening the door for us.
Kyle. They were going to arrest Kyle. Kyle was on the football team, he was popular. It wouldn't take long for news to spread of his arrest. Soon everyone in school would know of what happened. How in the world was I supposed to handle that. There was so many people who loved Kyle. I was going to be hated by so many people once word got around. I would probably be bullied. Of course they'd all make sure to attack me when Parker wasn't around since he was the most popular guy in school. Everything was about to come crashing down around me.
When we pulled into our driveway, no one made a move to get out. We had left Parker's car down at the station until him and dad could go get it later. After sitting there for a few minutes, my father turned in his seat to look back at me.
"What now?" He asks.
I know he's been thinking just as much as I have. He and I are a lot alike. We go over all different kinds of scenarios in our heads. Knowing that alone tells me that anything I've thought of, he's thought over twice and then some. His words hold a deeper meaning. He may have said now but I know what he means. This is going to change everything. So what are we going to do?
I close my eyes and lean my head back against the seat. I breathe in and out before opening my eyes and looking up at the ceiling of the vehicle.
"Can we just start over? After this whole thing or case or whatever you want to call it, blows over. Can we just completely start over? You know, me and Parker graduate this year and then we can just go. Go anywhere we want? Forget all the awful parts of our lives and act as though they never happened?" I ask.
"I think you've never had a better idea Doll.." My dad says as everyone nods in agreement.

After we got inside, all of today finally decided to take its toll on me. I felt extremely worn down so I decided to take a nap.
I dreamt of Kyle.
I dreamt of us going to court and the trial.
My dream became a nightmare quickly and before I knew it, a blackhole appeared out of nowhere and swallowed me. I was falling.
"Opal." A voice called to me.
"Opal, wake up Doll. It's okay." The voice called.
"Opal sweetie, please wake up." Another voice said and my eyes snapped out. When I looked up to find the source of the voice, my eyes met my father and mother's.
"Dad? Mom?" I asked confused as I tried to stop crying.
"We're here sweetie. Don't worry, everything is going to be okay." My mom says as she embraces me in a hug.
