After breakfast, I went back to my room and got ready for the day. Everyone from choir was expected to dress similarly for the assembly today. We had to wear white pants and orange shirts.

I grab my bag and head downstairs and wait for Parker. He comes running down the stairs ten minutes later and we make our way to the car. On the way there, Parker keeps looking back and forth between me and the road.

"What?" I ask, getting a little irritated.

"It's nothing, you don't need to worry about it." He says trying to avoid the subject.

"Just tell me, Parker, I don't have time for this." I huff.

"I just was thinking about how they already talked to Kyle." He says.

"Yeah? What about it?" I ask, leaning against the car door.

"Well, they arrested him but they had to release him because all they had on him was the assault. We're going to court for everything, right? So that means that until court, he could be out on bail.. He could be at school.." He says looking over at me.

Shit.

I never even thought about that. I just figured that they would hold him but I guess it wouldn't make sense for them too. It's innocent until proven guilty, right? So, of course, they have to let him go for now.

As we pull into the parking lot, I feel the dread grow in the pit of my stomach. If Kyle is out, who all has he told about it?

It doesn't take long for my question to be answered. After the car is parked and we get out, all eyes are on us. It doesn't take long for Parker to pull me to his side as we make our way up to the steps of the building. As we walk by, I get a mix of looks from people. The majority consists of disgusted looks and death glares. Some guys are eyeing me like I'm a piece of meat. A few people here and there give me looks of sympathy.

I turn my head to the side to look out across the crowds and that's when I see Danny. Our eyes meet and he makes his way to us as quickly as possible. When I turn my eyes back towards Parker, I can see one of his buddies from the football team making his way to us.

"You want to tell me what the hell is going on?" The guy spits out at Parker. He looks at me with disdain.

"Leave it Jake." Parker says as he goes to move us past him. I turn to look at Danny and he's next to me.

"He's your best friend, you're really taking her word over his?" Jake says stepping in front of Parker, blocking his way.

"I'm telling you right now, get out of my way." Parker seethes.

"Whatever, believe the slut." Jake snaps.

"What did you just call her?" Parker says releasing me and walking up to get in Jakes' face.

"What is going on here?" A voice booms from the front steps. I look up to find the vice principle making his way down to the two.

"Palmer, Munier, break it up. Fighting is not tolerated in this school, you both know that." He says, stopping in front of the two and crossing his arms.

The boys step away from each other, Jake stalking off to his group of friends and Parker to Danny and I.

"That goes for the rest of you, fighting is not allowed, if you're caught starting a physical confrontation, I will not hesitate to suspend you!" The V.P. yells out to the rest of the student body that's hanging around outside.

"As for you," He says turning back to us. "Mr. Silius would like to have a word with you." He says before turning back and heading into the office.
