That I did always love
I bring thee Proof
That till I loved
I never lived—Enough—
That I shall love alway—
I argue thee
That love is life—
And life hath Immortality—
This—dost thou doubt—Sweet—
Then have I
Nothing to show
But Calvary—
-Emily Dickinson, I'm waiting on your painting
Emily smiled, because no matter how bad a day is, Amy is her one and only salvation from this cruel, cruel world. Somehow, though they have just met, she can feel that Amy was going to be the one. As Emily sat in her room and stared at the moon, she wondered if perhaps Amy were doing the same.
She was.

The dinner with George. She had forgotten all about it during her peaceful slumber and now, the idea has returned to haunt her. She had desperately wanted for a miracle to cancel the dinner, perhaps George could've fallen and gotten stuck in a ditch? Her mother seemed to love the idea, however, after learning it was George Gould, a well accomplished man who had good education and a successful future in store for him, she was very, very happy. But Emily was not, because George is not her type whatsoever, her type, is Amy (and Sue).
The dinner table was set up beautifully, flowers placed aesthetically and their best plates and bowls were out on display, ready to be used. The table was cleaned and all dust or crumbs that Emily's mother might've missed were disappeared, the wood on said table glimmering in the sunlight pf the early morning.
One problem, one very important problem. There were over 5 sets of crockery. There were only 4 people in her family and 5 including George (not that he was ever going to actually be in their family). The meant that guests were coming over, Emily concluded, but who?
She wouldn't mind anyone, as long as they weren't the March's because the March's meant Amy March and that would mean that Amy would have to see George act as Emily's suitor and that would just be utter chaos. Sometimes, however, chaos just can't be avoided.

Getting ready for the dinner had to be one of the most stressful things Amy had ever done, she needed to make a good impression on Emily's parents but also not dress so elegantly because it was a simple dinner.
Though it was hours beforehand, Amy's stress could not be quelled, she blamed Emily for that. Emily always made her feel things, even though it was only the simple conversation they had and the exchanging of letters between the two, her heart seemed to beat faster every time she thought of Emily.
Amy finally stopped stressing and worrying after she was beckoned down for brunch, it wasn't fancy, it was just the March sisters and Aunt March, though the food was delicious as always.
"Amy, could we please speak, alone, preferably," Jo told her, dragging her aside.
"You've been acting very unusually the past few days, are perhaps feeling unwell?" Jo questioned, concerned at her younger sisters actions.
"Not at all, Jo," Amy responded, not wanting to tell her the real reason why she was acting unusual.
"Are you sure Amy?" Jo worried about her sister, "Has something happened?"
"Yes, actually..." Amy said, hoping to confide in her sister, "I seem to have fallen in love."
