proud of my broken heart, since thou didst break it,

(A/N I wrote and posted the highschool Katelena fic.)

If I can stop one heart from breaking,

I shall not live in vain;

If I can ease one life the aching,

Or cool one pain,

Or help one fainting robin

Unto his nest again,

I shall not live in vain.

"You what?" Amy stared in shock at the two girls.

"Yes, we used to be lovers," Sue smirked, staring at Emily who was fuming.

"And this was?" Amy questioned again, desperately wanting answers.

"Only a few days ago," Sue was happy to reply to this question.

Emily watched the gaped Amy and the smirking Sue. What was Sue doing? She had promised not to interfere into this relationship!

"Amy, I-" Emily tried, only to be cut off by Amy.

"So, Sue left you and immediately afterwards you started whatever we have with me? Was I just some kind of replacement?" Amy asked, angrily.

"No!" Emily cried out as she watched as tears slowly started started streaming down Amy's face.

"I don't believe anyone can move on that fast, and if you really did, then you obviously didn't love Sue and that means that you really aren't the person I thought you were," Amy said, tasting the salt from her tears in her mouth.

"GOD AMY! Please, just listen to me, I really do love you and I really did love Sue but..." Emily didn't know how to finish, what was she really going to say? Amy was right, if she truly loved Sue, she wouldn't have moved on so quickly. Does that mean that Emily was with Sue without even truly loving her?

"But?" Sue threw in, ready to fuel the burning fire.

"But... I don't know..." Emily sighed, dejected. Amy stared at the brunette as she slowly turned away.

"Please, Emily, I would rather you leave me alone for a while. Please do not write," Amy broke Emily's heart with those words.

"Amy... you really weren't just a replacement for Sue to me," Emily tried once again. Amy's head turned to look out the window of the moving carriage, the coach gently bumping up and down.

No words came out of Amy's mouth, no sign of her even so much as hearing Emily's words. Amy's mind ran with thoughts of what had just happened: was I really just a replacement for Sue? They had just broken up, no way Emily moved on so fast. Amy watched as trees blurred past, droplets falling down her reddened cheeks.

Was I perhaps just overreacting? Maybe Emily had... Amy desperately tried to think of an excuse for Emily, but her emotional mind prevented her from ding so.

The neighing of the horses soon replaced the silence as the carriage had stopped, this time, in front of the Dickinson household. Emily got off first, with the help of the coachman. Gentle hands grabbed onto gloved ones as she tried to walk out. Steep wooden steps in heels with blurred sight from tears did not mix well.

Eyes slightly tinted red from the salty tears that had rolled down her cheeks not one minute ago. She expertly averted her eyes from the curious ones of the coachman, Amy following suit, also hiding her eyes.

Sue walked out, a different expression from the others, complex, almost unreadable. A mix of guilt and pity, triumph and victory. She didn't know what to feel, she had just teared apart a relationship, but perhaps, for her happiness.
