Chapter Five

Genya was walking home, when he started thinking about Muichiro

"Muichiro seems really nice, though he is sort of forgetful. I wonder why;maybe I should ask the Hashira next time I run into them." Genya thought to himself

As he walked, his shotgun bounced against the metal of his belt, making a clanking noise

The rustling of his footsteps, and the wind felt refreshing against his skin

"I can finally go to sleep when I get home, I'm so tired." He muttered, air leaving his mouth

As Genya walked, his footsteps tapping against the ground, he started hearing rustling

He stopped and stayed still, but it stopped

"Whatever, probably an animal or something. Something I don't need to worry about."

He continued down the path leading to his estate, sweat dripping into his Mohawk

When he arrived home, he took off his shoes, and quickly washed himself

When he was done, he grabbed some comfy clothes, changed, and hopped into bed, falling sleep

~in the morning~

Genya was awoken with urgent squawking

"Master Ubuyashaki wants you to the Headquarters! Master Ubuyashaki wants you to the Headquarters!" His crow squawked noisily

Genya groaned, his crow flapping his wings

The swordsmen got up and changed into his Demon Slayer Uniform

"Why does Master want me this early, and why ME, out of all people?" Genya mumbled as he was putting on his shoes

He pushed himself off the ground and headed to the Headquarters

~when Genya arrived at the headquarters~

As Genya walked into the headquarters, he saw Ubuyashaki in a wooden room with someone he couldn't really make out

As he stepped closer, he realized the teal and black blur was Muichiro

Oh, Muichiro's here! I wonder what Master wants with both of us

Genya stepped into the wooden room, where Muichiro turned to look at him

"Oh, hi Genya! he started

Genya replied, "Hi Muichiro."

Master Ubuyashaki tapped his wooden desk, and the two boys turned their attention to
him

"You boys might be wondering why I called you here. Do not fear, as you are in no trouble at all. I called you here to merely assign you two to a mission."

The two boys looked confused

"What mission are you speaking about, Master?" Muichiro asked

Ubuyashaki frowned, "Well, the demon that's been lurking around here is more of a threat than we feared. The demon has been rapidly taking people, but we have noticed a pattern. The demon only takes couples, and they have took 150 in the past week alone."

The two boys gasped in shock, and Ubuyashiki continued

"I've assigned you two on this mission. No specific reason, I just want you two to know each other better. The mission is tomorrow at 5pm, you are dismissed."

Genya and Muichiro looked at one another and they both walked away

"I'm happy we're going on this mission, Genya."

Genya responded, "Same, honestly, solo missions are so boring."

Muichiro agreed, "Right?! You have no one to talk to or to pass time. All you do on solo missions is slay the demon, and go back to Headquarters!"

Genya and Muichiro chatted until they got to the place where Ubuyashaki assigned them to go, drew their weapons, and looked around

"Huh, I don't hear anything." Genya observed

"Wait, what are we hear for again?" Muichiro asked, scratching his head

Genya told him patiently, "Master assigned us to slay a demon who's been kidnapping couples, and this is where it was last spotted. That's what we're here for."

Muichiro nodded, and he and Genya continued to keep a lookout

"We should just go home, this mission is probably a fake." Muichiro concluded

"Wait, Muichiro. We should wait and see if they reveal themselves any time soon." Genya protested

Muichiro muttered, "Only for you, Genya."

Genya swiveled, "What was that?"

Muichiro gasped, and turned a light shade of pink, "Nothing, don't worry about it."

They waited for 10 more minutes

Genya actually considered giving into Muichiro's protest and call it a day, when the two heard deep cackling
