the red dot appeared on her shirt as it came from the trees infront of her. she stumbled back but tripped over her feet, falling on her ass on the porch stairs again. as vienna tried desperately to get back inside because being shot wasnt exactly a fun experience, she could not. the second she was able to pull herself to her feet, a gunshot broke the silence.
artem spun in the direction of the gunshot and was almost immediately met with the outline of a home. he ran towards it but fell on a root, falling down into the ground. a stabbing pain was in his leg as he looked down and saw a piece of wood jabbed into his thigh.
"oh shit.. no." artem groaned and shakily grabbed the wood.
he looked from his leg to the nearby cabin. quiet cries could be heard from that direction and no more gunshots came.
vienna pulled herself into the home with a new wound in her stomach. the shooter had missed any major arteries so she wasnt that screwed quite yet. izaiah heard the shot and his guardians cries and ran out of his room. vienna was sitting against the wall with her hand on her stomach, blood spilling through her fingers.
"izaiah.. close and lock the door." she breathed out.
he did as told just to see a man running up to try to get past. no one had ever broken the back part of the house but many had gone through the front. the shooter seemed to remember and went towards the front. as izaiah tried to figure out what to do, the door opened. the gun was pointed right at the little boys head.
"iza.. run." vienna begged.
he shook his head as much as she begged for him to leave. he didnt know what was behind him and would listen to her. tears from fear for him pricked at the corners of her eyes as she knew he would never listen.
"i cant leave you here.."
izaiahs tears hit her bloodied clothes, making vienna hesitantly pull him into a hug.
artem pulled out his metal waterbottle as protection as he never really thought this part through all that much. he entered the home behind some other man holding a gun with his bottle raised. his eyes travelled to infront of the man and he saw a little boy holding onto a woman. she had viennas hair, viennas body, but this woman was much bloodier than he remembered. blood was smeared across her face and covered her clothes.
thunk
the armed man was hit with the bottle and fell to the ground with a loud thud. artem tried to run to vienna but the child glared at him and covered her with his body.
"who are you?"
"i- uh.. im artem. artem wing."
vienna opened her eyes to that and her dark purple eyes met with his bright blue ones. although they were five years older than when they first met, both still looked quite the same in eachothers eyes.
"izaiah- shit.. can you go get the first aid kit for artem? once you have if you could go to your room for a while.."
vienna wheezed after her words got out, making her touch a hand to her stomach again. izaiah did as told and ran off, artem falling to his knees beside her. no words were said as his eyes swept over her weakened body. vienna hated that he saw her like this, but there was no changing what had already happened. once the child dropped off the first aid kit, he left. artem used what little skill he has with these kinds of things and patched her up with as much care as he could use.
artems hands shook as he moved away ever so slightly to look at her a bit better. vienna ignored the pain she felt once reaching out and touching her hand to the back of his head. her body was almost too still now but she used any remaining strength to pull the man down to her. he held onto whatever spot didnt hurt her and just hugged her. artems tears and muffled sobs were all that was able to be heard now. he seemed to have done some damage to that guy, huh?
