- Let's Talk -

She wasn't sure how long she had been staring at the place where her hand should be, but it was long enough for Dream to kneel in front of her, hand going on her shoulder. He waited patiently until she looked at him to speak.

"Try not to think too much about that right now, we need to think about what we're going to do next."

"But my hand is..." She cradled the limb to her chest, thoughts once again straying. The hand on her shoulder tensed.

"Shit, your hand!" He exclaimed as if he just realized it was missing. Y/n furrowed her brows and pouted.

"You're just realizing?"

"I'm just realizing that you can't go back to your brother, or the prince for that matter, with your hand missing. I mean, how do we even begin to explain all of this!" Before she could respond he continued. "We don't! I'm guessing you want to keep your identity a secret, right? Just as I want to keep mine a secret too,"

Dream tilted his head downwards as he thought over possible solutions to this new problem. "We could lie. Tell them that someone broke in– no, that's stupid and I'd lose my position as well as my hand for compensation."

"Hey, what if–"

"--Or you could say you never had a hand in the first place?" Dream scoffed. "No, that doesn't even make sense–"

"Hey! What if... we don't go back?"

Dream retracted his hand as his head shot back up. "What?!"

Y/n pursed her lips, clenching her hand into a fist, and kept her eyes on the ground. "What if we don't go back." She repeated, more confident than before and wording what she said as more of a statement than a question.

"Y/n,"

"No, let me explain because you're right, I can't just go back with my hand missing, and if we did then there'd be no way to explain any of this. And if we left, we could help fix this timeline from behind the scenes."

She could see him visibly hesitate. The slump of his shoulders indicated defeat, knowing that she was right and what not going back would entail for the both of them.

"What about your family then?"

"They'll be fine for now," She'll make sure of it. It wasn't like it was impossible to help them with their problems without her being there. Karl's words of parting suddenly rang through her head, and Y/n wasn't sure if she shivered from the wind or the memory.
