*TRIGGER WARNING; weapons, heavy drug use DETAILED*

~Dear Diary,
It has been four months since Landon got locked up. After his court date he wrote me and told me they sentenced him to 6 months. Even though it was just a probation violation they said that he has broken the law too many times that maybe actual jail will change him. After watching Levi get locked up for most of my life I know that jail and juvie will never help someone.

Landon has wrote me every week like he has promised and I have done the same. He told me not to wait for him but I am and I will. The connection with him just felt so real. Ever sense he got locked up I have been spending a lot of time with Jacob and he truly is a good friend. We have a few lectures together and Lux, Shaggy, him, and I even have a few.

I've never met his girlfriend but I'm starting to think she doesn't exist with how much time he spends with me, and how little he talks about her. It feels so natural to spend time with him yet for some reason I'm always on edge. It is now Christmas break and Lux and I are headed to San Diego for the holidays. To say I'm dreading spending Christmas Eve with my moms side of the family is an understatement but I'm excited to see Levi and to be home. I haven't been back since we left for UCLA. I can't wait to see my big brother, my parents, and Lux's family. Fuck everyone else.
Xoxo, Ash

I close my diary just in time to see the sign that says "San Diego next exit." I look over to see that Lux's mood go down a level with every mile.

"Hey." I turn to look at her. "It'll be okay. It's Christmas remember that. And I'm only spending Christmas Eve with my family and I will be at your house first thing Christmas morning." I reassure her. She takes a deep breath and starts to relax.

Lux has a hard time with her family. Her dad left when she was eight and her little sister Aroura was one. He came back into her life when we graduated and I think she's scared he's going to leave again. Since then her mom got remarried to a man named John who had a daughter named Lenix who's the same age as Aroura. Then they adopted two more kids. A girl named Spencer, same age as Aroura and Lenix, and a boy named Keith who is about four years younger. Five years later came a little boy that they made together named Bubba.

I love how blended their family is. It makes me wish that mine and Levi's birth siblings got adopted with us but I understand that it's a lot to take on. I have always loved spending time with Lux's family. Her step dad can be a dick some times but he means no harm and her mom is an amazing woman who takes no shit from anyone. I call her mom as well.

No one can get under Lux's skin like her step dad can. She has no patience when it comes to him. I'm always the one to calm her down no matter what and I'll always have her back.

I finally zone back into reality when the truck is put in park and I see the familiar single story three bedroom house I once called home just a few months ago. I sigh and hug Lux before grabbing my things and returning to the passenger side window.

"I'll see you the day after tomorrow. First thing in the morning I promise." I say. She nods silently and drives off in the direction of her house.

With a deep breath I walk the path leading up to the front door and instantly hear familiar screaming. I roll my eyes and sigh before walking through the front door.

Immediately I am scared for my life when a book comes flying toward my head. I duck just in time to miss it before looking up to cuss out the culprit.
