"I'm in the kitchen!" Oliver said. He didn't know what to think, what did Jake want to talk to him about? Did he not like him? Did he want to leave? Oliver's anxiety was taking over his thoughts.
Jake walked into the kitchen. He must've seen Oliver's face because his expression turned into a worried one in a second.

"Don't worry," Jake said, "it's nothing personal, I just need to tell you something." Oliver didn't know what to say, so he stayed silent. "I think we should sit before I tell you though..." Jake added and pointed to a chair. Oliver sat down,
And Jake started talking.

"I saw someone when I was sleeping," Jake seemed to be thinking for a few seconds, "he was a demon. He warned me about his father or something."
Oliver felt his blood drain from his face. A demon? Why would a demon warn him of all people? Weren't they supposed to be evil? Obviously they were, otherwise he wouldn't have to be warned.
"Do you know who warned you?" Oliver had to ask. Jake answered his question with a 'yes'.
"His name was Zane," he said, "do you know who he is?" He ended his answer with a question. Oliver froze. Everyone knew of the demon. Why did his dad want him? He didn't know, and he was going to get some answers.

Jake once again looked to be worried for Oliver, he must've noticed his face turning white.
"C-could you call him here?" Oliver asked, stuttering. Jake thought for a second, "I think so. Maybe I'll try sleeping again," He said, "are you okay though? You're really pale.." Oliver didn't understand why Jake cared so much. "Not really.. but it'll pass. Maybe we'll get some answers from Zane." Jake frowned. "Whatever you say then..." he said and then left the room to try to contact Zane again, and Oliver was once again left alone with his thoughts. Why does Jake care so much? Nobody does. Not even his own family. Not even himself... He didn't understand it, but it felt good to be cared about. Beans then entered the kitchen, and dragged Oliver outside.

"We're going to sit outside. You need it. I feel sadness." Beans said - well, thought - to Oliver, and he felt a little better. He and beans had been very close ever since he found him in the forest - right after he ran away from the other elves. Oliver and Beans sat on a rock together, just watching the river in front of them. Nevertheless - it was relaxing, and Oliver was grateful to Beans for always being there when he needed it. He also wished he could have another person to look out for him, since his family didn't. Maybe he should tell Jake about it? He was thinking about it.

After what felt like an hour to Oliver, Jake came outside and sat beside him and Beans. "I talked with Zane," he said, "he said he'll come over to discuss our situation tomorrow. Are you okay though? You've been staring at the river for a while now." Oliver flinched when he felt Jake putting his hand on Oliver's shoulder, and he thought a little bit before he answered Jake's question. "I-I'm fine, just thinking..." He stopped for a second before he added, "have you ever felt like an outcast..?"

"I don't remember," Jake said, "I don't know what you've been through, but what I do know, is that I'm not going to let you feel that way. Not on my watch." He smiled at Oliver, and it seemed genuine. Oliver let out a small smile. "Thank you." He whispered, "did Zane say when he was coming?" Jake answered with a 'no, just tomorrow' and they both got up and went back inside, with Beans following after them. As they walked in, Oliver decided - He would tell Jake what happened in his past.

"I uh, I gotta tell you something.." Oliver said to Jake, still unsure. "Hm?" Jake turned to him.
"A few years ago, I ran away from the village I grew up in. No one liked me there, even my family didn't. I was just a disappointment to them, a mistake.." Oliver stopped for a second, "I was the only one there with short, let alone pink hair. But I liked the color, and I got bullied for it. Then.. my best friend turned his back on me." Jake stared at Oliver in disbelief. Did he feel the same? Did he hate him too?

"I- I'm sorry, I shouldn't have told you anything.." Oliver said and ran away, to the heart of the forest. As he ran, he could feel tears falling down, but he just ignored it.
After what felt like hours, Oliver finally stopped. He didn't mind getting lost, because he had been in this place a lot. He looked at the tree in front of him. It was big - the biggest tree in the forest, - tall, and some of the leaves were glowing. It was magical. Oliver stepped to the tree, and sat under it.

He thought. About his life now, and then. he didn't want to go back, but he knew he had to soon. Before he knew it, it was already getting dark, and he didn't want to worry beans so he started to walk back to his small house - what he didn't realize though, was that someone has been following him the whole way back.

Hearing a noise, he looked back just to see nothing but the trees of the forest. 'it's probably nothing, I'm just imagining things again...' he had thought to himself.
Oliver saw his house in the distance, and started to run towards it. Outside, he saw Jake looking in his direction, his face lightening up when he noticed Oliver running to the house.
"where were you?? we were super worried. I was super worried!" Jake basically screamed at Oliver in frustration.

Oliver flinched. He didn't like people screaming at him and it only made him want to cry. It seemed Jake noticed because he almost immediately said "I'm sorry... I was just really worried about you," he smiled slightly, "I didn't mean to scare you."
"It's fine," Oliver almost sobbed, "I shouldn't have ran away like that, so I'm sorry too."
In the trees, a young, white haired human-looking guy smirked. Nobody knew he was there, but Oliver could feel someone watching him the whole way back. He didn't think of it too much, however.

The guy ran away, making the a sound as he ran through the woods. He now knew where Jake was, and that's all he needed.
"Did you hear that?" Oliver asked Jake when he heard the sound. He looked at the direction it came from.
"I did. It's most likely just an animal running... Let's go in now, me and Beans made dinner."
Then, Jake grabbed Oliver's hand and dragged him inside - but Oliver was still skeptical about the sound. He knew someone had followed him home, but he tried to ignore it as to not worry Jake and Beans. He also knew he wanted to help Jake as much as he could, since Jake didn't judge him. He knew he could trust him.

When they walked in, Oliver smelled food. It smelled good, and he was hungry, so he sat down while Jake put the food in front of him.
It was a bowl of soup - it had carrots, broccoli, potatoes and more vegetables he didn't notice were in there because he was too flabbergasted by the soup. It both smelled and looked good.
"Thanks," Oliver said, "it looks very good." he smiled.
"Well what are you waiting for? Try it!" Jake beamed. Oliver nodded and drank the soup. It tasted like heaven. The vegetables fit the taste of the soup perfectly. It reminded him of 'home', before everything happened.

Without noticing, Oliver had started to cry. He missed 'home' so much, even if everyone hated him, he still missed them. But he knew it wasn't home anymore.
"Huh? Oliver, you're crying!!" Jake said, worried. Oliver was snapped out of his thoughts.

"I- I am... Sorry about that..."
