House Party

  Mike's POV
  The next morning I wake up a little late in the morning. It was hard for me to go to sleep after what happened at the front door. I get out of bed and get dressed. There comes a knock at my front door. I walk over and move my desk out of the way.  I open it. It's Alpha Danny.
  "Oh good morning Alpha." I say. Danny smiles at first but then points to the door. On the back side of the door are a few claw marks and some splintered wood. I go to speak but he gestures for us to go inside. I take a step back to make room for Danny to come in. He walks in and I close the door behind him. He looks at the desk.
  "So what happened last night?" He asks me.
  "You mean to the door?" I ask.
  "And the desk?" He says.
  "Something was trying to get in my room.." I begin to explain. He hold his hand up for me to stop.
  "Wait back up. Tell me everything that happened after Rain left here." He says.
  "Well after he left, I went to go heat up the pasta that Luna Maria left me. I heard some howling and growling from outside my bedroom window. So I went over to investigate. I shut off the lights to get a better look. I didn't see much, only a shadow. I noticed the shadow getting closer and closer to my hut. I went to the door and locked it just as something started banging and scratching at the door. I held the door in place until it stopped. Then I put the desk in front of the door in case it came back. I didn't hear anything else for the rest of the night." I say. He studies me for a bit.
  "Mike I'm sorry about that. That must've been pretty scary."
  "It was.." I admit.
  "The safest way to protect you is to start training you."
  "What happened?" I ask.
  "It's better if you don't worry about it. Just know that it won't happen again." He says. He takes a seat on the couch.
  "Rain told me you want to stay. I'm glad you've decided that. We will begin your training as soon as possible. I will limit our runs until you have started showing your original form. This will be quite exciting." Alpha says.
  "You think I'll be ready to start so soon?" I ask.
  "Oh yes. We'll first assess you and your wolf. We will see the kind of bond you two have together and we will work to make it stronger. The source of our differences is our bond with our wolf and the moon Goddess. We just need you to tap into that bond and then the change will happen." He says. There's another knock on my door. My am I popular. I go to open it and see that it's Rue.
  "Hey Mike." She says excited and then sees her dad on my couch.
  "Oh am I interrupting?" She asks. Alpha Danny stands from the couch.
  "No no, I must be going. But I will see you two for lunch." He says before walking out of my hut. Rue enters after her father leaves and I shut the door behind her.
  "Hey Rue, how was the run last night?" I ask.
  "Oh it was great. What happened to your door?" She asks.
  "Let's not talk about it. Your dad is taking care of it." I say.
  "Oh ok." Her eyes wonder around the room. We stand there for a moment in silence, awkward silence.
  "Was there something you wanted?" I ask.
  "Oh yeah, Gabby wanted to know, if you'd be interested in coming to a sort of get together she's having." She asks
  "When?" I ask.
  "Tonight. It's super boring around here, if there's any reason to throw a party we take it." She says.
  "Are you going to be there?" I ask, why did I ask, of course she's going to be there.
  "Yeah, Rain, Jack, and I are all going. You should come with us." She says. Oh I'm sure Jack would love that.
  "Sure, I'll go, what else will I be doing?" I say. She giggles. A bell sound rings out.
  "Lunch time. Come on." She takes my hand and leads me out to the dining area.
  "Mike!" Rain yells and waves for us to come over.
  "Hey Rain." I say. Jack is standing behind Rain next to the Alpha. He is glaring at me and Rue. Rue drops my hand once she sees Jack.
  "Come sit with us." Rain says. I sit next to him and Rue and Jack are across from me again. I see Jack say something to Rue but she ignores it.
  Our table is called first today. That's exciting. I'm sure to grab a scoop of everything they're serving. Today it's some sort of stew, with sweet purple bread on the side. Rain said it's made from sweet potatoes.  We get back to our seats and everyone starts to eat. Everything was delicious as always, the purple bread was good, but not as good as the flaky circle breads.
  "So, Mike. I assume Rue told you about the gathering at Gabby's tonight?" Rain asks.
  "Yeah, she talked me into going." I say.
  "Good, it will be fun. What are you going to do before that?" He asks.
  "I'm not sure." I answer truthfully.
  "Want to help in the greenhouse for a bit? We could sure use the help. Plus with more people we'll finish quicker and then we can get to the party early." Rain says.
  "Sure but I don't know much about greenhouses or plants." I admit.
  "No worries, it's actually pretty relaxing." Rain says. I notice Rue and Jack talking, I try to look at anything else. I look over and see Gabby looking at me and then I see the girl sitting next to her looking at me.
  "Why is everyone staring at me?" I ask Rain. He looks up and chuckles.
  "They smell fresh meat." He wiggles his eyebrows.
  "Maybe I'll change my mind." I say.
  "No come on, it will be great. How about I play interception all night?" He asks. This is going to end badly. After lunch Rain and I head to the greenhouse. As we walk I see Rue and Jack talking up against one of the buildings.
  "You need to watch yourself. I won't have my mate acting like some common-."
  "Is everything ok?" I ask Jack cutting him off.
  "This is none of your concern newcomer." Jack says.
  "It's fine, our conversation is over." Rue says pushing past Jack.
  "Where you headed off to?" She asks me.
  "I was going to the greenhouse and help out." I say.
  "Great, let's go." Rue says pushing past Jack.
  "Rue!" Jack says.
  "I'm done talking to you." She says and heads to the greenhouse. Jack looks pissed.
  "You better back off newcomer. I swear you will regret it." Jack says, he punches the wall and storms off. Man that guy is uptight. I help out at the greenhouse late into the afternoon. Once we were done we all go and grab some food and head home to freshen up. I get clean and change my clothes before Rain turns up at my door.
  "Come on man let's go." He says.
  "I'm ready." I say we head out of my hut and Rue and Jack were waiting for us.
  "I'm so excited. It's been too long since our last get together." Rue says.
  "Glad to be of service." I say. She giggles and Jack looks like someone peed in his cornflakes. But I'm learning to ignore him. It's not hard to find out where the get together is being held, I just follow the noise. We get to the party and everyone is super nice and Rain is doing his best to keep the girls away. Rue is out in the crowd dancing, while Jack sulks around with a drink in his hands, his eyes are on Rue.
  "Mike!" Gabby screams my name.
  "Hey Gabby." I say.
  "Mike come dance with me." She says. She's already taken my hand and is dragging me to the dance floor. I give Rain a look, he just smiles at me and shrugs. I am pulled out into the crowd and Gabby starts dancing on me. I do my best attempt at dancing.
  "Rue!" Gabby shouts and brings Rue over and we all dance together. However, it was short lived. Jack comes over and grabs Rue's arm again and pulls her out of the crowd.
  "Ow." I hear her say and I can no longer hold back. I grab Jack's arm and twist it behind his back and yank up. It's a quick easy movement you can't muscle your way out of.
  "Let go of her." I say. He releases Rue's arm and I release his. I stand between Rue and Jack.
  "She is my mate. This is between me and her." Jack shouts.
  "That's it! I am not your mate! I reject your offer. I'm done Jack." Rue says and storms away grabbing Gabby on her way. Jack looks like he is going to lose it.
  "This is all your fault. You will pay for this." Jack storms out.
