"I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies
This is the dawning of the rest of our lives
On holiday"

"Holiday"

Jumping through a portal is a lot like falling into water. The feeling of weightlessness, the inability to breathe, the feeling like one is floating and falling at the same time, the shock. Then being thrown back into the world. Alec jumped out of the portal, stumbling a step at the force that shoved him forward. Peter laughed slightly at Alec who had tripped and now fallen. Iris and Cass were laughing loudly at Alec. Peter stepped forward to help Alec to his feet, once he was upright, Peter started to brush the dirt off of Alec's jacket.

"You okay?" Peter asked, looking into Alec's dark brown eyes, and laughing quietly to himself.

"Yeah. I don't understand why it's so funny." Alec replied and furrowed his brow.

"Well you did fall on your face..." Peter said, looking at Alec innocently. Alec couldn't help but laugh a little. He knew he'd made a bit of a fool of himself by falling out of the portal.

"This is off to a great start." Alec said, smiling slightly, now looking at Peter's bright blue eyes. His eyes showed something that he hid well in his other features. Something hurt inside him. He was hiding it well. It was something like self hatred that he didn't want anyone else to see. Peter nodded and looked down at his wrist device. He usually used the device to conceal his wings with a glamour but now his wings were out in the open. Alec wished desperately that Peter would show his wings more often. They were, in Alec's mind, beautiful but dark. Almost a symbol of beauty and pain.

Peter treated Alec so well. He didn't just treat him like another freak, he treated him like he was just as human and natural as any other person. Something that was so foreign to Alec. For most of his life, Alec was treated no better than dirt. In fact, maybe even worse than dirt. It was kind of a sad ordeal. Alec hoped to never have to return to his home world. It most definitely would not be a welcomed thing either. Peter touched Alec's arm hesitantly. Alec turned quickly to look at Peter.

"You zoned out again." Alec nodded. He hadn't realized he'd zoned out. Though it wasn't unusual.

"Side effect." Alec said, looking down at the rocky ground. Peter nodded, eyes looking sad, but his face showing no sign of it. Alec sighed, it always made Alec feel just straight up awful whenever Peter looked at him like that. Peter looked away from Alec and Iris coughed, grabbing both Alec and Peter's attention.

"Let's look around. Alec, Peter you guys go that way," she said, pointing southeast. "Cass and I, will go that way." She now pointed northwest. "Meet back here in an hour?" Alec nodded.

"Okay, cool." Iris and Cass started walking, chatting loudly as they left. Alec first drew a symbol in the dirt, then started walking with Peter at his side. Peter looked at Alec with a confused look.

"What's that?"

"To know where to meet." Alec explained. Peter nodded.

"That makes sense. But I mean what is the symbol?" Peter replied as he looked around at his surroundings.

"It's from my "home". It's used as a place marker. Just as I used it for." Alec explained with a shrug of his shoulders. Peter knew that Alec didn't like talking about anything from his home world so he didn't press the subject any further.

"So are we boyfriends now or what?" Peter asked, blushing brightly. Alec tired to keep from smiling. He thought it was kind of funny how Peter always blushed at mentioning that. Though Alec didn't know why he alway blushed like that.
