That they both are satisfied
Illuminate the No's on their vacancy signs
If there's no one beside you
When your soul embarks
Then I'll follow you into the dark"

"I Will Follow You Into The Dark"

It wasn't easy adjusting to no wings. Well, then again, nothing is simply easy. Most everything takes practice to get better at(not including things of instinct), and there's always room for improvement. That's just a fact.

Peter was stumbling around and Alec following him constantly to make sure he didn't fall flat on his ass. Not a lot happened in the months after everything. Peter healed, Dakota trained to do good, Sam and Cass hooked up, other than that it was bland. Everything went back to normal. Or as close to normal as it could.

None of the team had dared to bring up trying to adjust into society being themselves instead of hiding with glamours and pretending they didn't drink blood or turn to wolves on the full moon and the other things.  Alec got drunk that night almost two months ago when he brought Peter home from the emergency room. He came back home late. Peter was still up. He had been unable to sleep. Alec passed out on the counter and Peter didn't even try to wake him up.

Now, Peter was pursuing the plan he had made almost six months ago with Alec at his side. The two were currently in Verona Italy. Being as they were in northern Italy, the dialects changed with each different town, which made things a little difficult but Alec had no trouble picking up the dialects and learning them. Though Peter didn't know a lick of the language. It was like Alec was his personal translator.

They were sitting in the Tosca Café and Alec was having a lighthearted conversation with one of the people who worked there. Peter sighed and looked out the window. It was raining heavily as he watched the people bustling around. Umbrellas and coats were a blur as they passed. He took a sip of the cappuccino he was drinking. It's odd, they don't sell just straight up black coffee... Peter thought as Alec finished up the conversation. For some reason, Peter's mind drifted from coffee to his scars. It was a constant reminder of what happened. It was also a constant thought shoved into the back of his mind with everything else he shoved back there that he didn't want to think about or that he'd forgotten.

Alec finished his conversation and turned back to Peter. He smiled kindly and Peter smiled back though it wasn't very heartfelt.

"The local people here are so kind!" Alec exclaimed as Peter finished his cappuccino and nodded.

"We should get going before the storm sets in completely." Peter said, disregarding Alec's comment. He nodded and stood up. They were renting out an apartment just a couple of blocks down the street for the time that they were in Verona. Peter snatched the umbrella that was theirs out of the umbrella holder as they started walking back. Peter and Alec's arms were intertwined in an attempt to both fit under the small safe haven from the rain. They were lucky enough that it wasn't windy and raining. Peter fumbled to get the key to the apartment out of his pocket. When he got the door open they both practically fell inside.

Alec slumped down in the nearest chair and heaved a sigh. Peter ignored him and also pushed the wanting to chastise him for sitting down soaking wet as he walked into the kitchen. There was a clap of thunder as he started taking out ingredients for supper. Alec poked his head around the corner of the door frame and smiled. He had abandoned his coat and was wearing a grey sweater that Peter didn't realize he even owned.

"Whatcha doin'?" Alec asked as he stepped into the small kitchen.

"Making dinner- what do you think?" Peter replied and started heating a pot of water. Alec shrugged at the rhetorical question.

"Have you heard from the team recently?" Alec asked as he sat down on the counter. Peter resisted smacking at Alec's arm.

"No. Last I heard they were cleaning up some portal jumping mess or something." He replied. Alec made no reply but set the table for dinner and helped Peter finish up. Half way through dinner the lights flickered off. Peter muttered a 'damn it' as he stood and walked to the cabinet where the battery powered lantern was and turned it on, he placed it on the table and resumed his supper. Alec talked about what they could do in the upcoming days when the rain lightened up but Peter wasn't listening. His mind was on a different subject.

Alec offered to clean up dinner and told Peter to go take a rest or something. He went to his room and read his book for a few hours until he fell asleep while reading. The rain continued for the next day and night with little sign of stopping. The two didn't do much throughout the day.

Then there was a knock on the door. Peter and Alec exchanged a confused look. They had no idea who could possibly be at the door, neither of them knew anyone in Verona. Peter hesitated when opening the door. There stood a woman, the coat she wore was torn and bloody but she did not look like she had been in a conflict.

"Are you Peter Smith?" She asked quickly, Peter was taken aback.

"Yes, who's asking?" Peter replied with a skeptical look about him.

"The name is Ash. Ash Carter. I'm Sam's sister." Alec stepped forward.

"And why should we believe that?"

"Because it's true." She looked at the rain that was falling off the eves. "May I come in?" Peter nodded and stepped out of the doorframe before Alec could say something rude.

"Why is it you're here?" Alec asked with his arms across his chest.

"You are all in grave danger. I tried to explain to my brother why but he disregarded me. I was near so I decided to come here."

"Why are we in danger?" Peter asked.

"I don't know. But I need help stopping it." Peter raised an eyebrow, it didn't quite seem right to follow someone who claims to be Sam's sibling.

"How can we help?"
