"Someday I will die
It all depends on how you remember me
Someday I'll close my eyes
Feel the breeze outside climbing high
Someday, if heaven will have me"

"About that, can I come in?" Peter nodded, he looked so scared of what Alec was going to say. It guilted Alec immensely.

"What's up?" Peter asked, laying down on his bed and patting the space beside him for Alec to lay down too.

"I ran into an old friend while I was out." Alec said, laying down next to Peter looking at the side of his head and the piercings in his ear.

"So? What's that got to do with anything?" Peter asked with his brow furrowed.

"He wanted me to get rid of you." Alec said as he moved to look at Peter.

"Why?"

"Because of a rash decision I made years ago."

"And...?" Alec sighed.

"I- er- I made a deal with him. And he's kind of like a crossroads demon when it comes to deals, you know, sell your soul, etcetera etcetera. Anyway, he said he wanted to turn me into a vampire when I was dying. And I agreed." He paused, looking at Peter. "I agreed because I love you, and I didn't want him to hurt you." Peter sat in silence for a moment while he processed Alec's words.

"You'd live for the rest of eternity just for me? But wouldn't that mean we wouldn't be-"

"Able to grow old together? Yes. Yes, because, I'm the reckless one. And my recklessness is going to get me killed. It's only a matter of time and you know it."

"Oh Alec." Peter said, his voice heavy with sadness that Alec couldn't quite comprehend. "Why do you have to do this? Why do you have to think so lowly about yourself? Just stop it!" Alec stared at Peter with a confused look on his face.

"What?"

"Is it that hard to realize that you are one of the most amazing people I have come to know?" Peter snapped.

"I- uh- I'm not. I'm not amazing at all. I don't understand that." Peter rolled his eyes.

"Why do you think that?" Peter said. He looked like he wanted to punch Alec for thinking that.

"I've done some very bad things." Peter rolled his eyes.

"You've said that a hundred times."

"I don't want you to know what I've done." Alec replied as he looked away.

"It's not going to hurt anyone to tell me."

"You won't think of me the same way." Peter rolled his eyes.

"Whatever you say. You're only making it sound worse."

"Sorry."

"Don't be. Just damn well tell me."

"I hurt a lot of people that were innocent. I did a lot of bad things. That's as much as I'll tell you."

Alec woke up in Peter's bed, Peter next to him. Alec thought about getting up and changing but thought otherwise, being such a lazy person. When Peter finally woke after what felt like ages (but was only a few long feeling minutes), Peter wrapped his arms around Alec's waist.

"Good morning." Peter said, a small, sleepy smile on his face.

"How'd you sleep?" Alec asked. As he sat up and stretched out his arms.

"Fine. I wish you wouldn't feel the way you do about yourself." Alec shook his head, and kissed Peter's lips.

"We should probably get up now." Alec whispered into Peter's ear.

"Okay." Peter got up, and gave Alec a sleepy smile. Alec dashed across the hall to his own room, changed, and went back. Peter had changed too. The both walked to the kitchen. No one else was there, but a note was on the table.

"Went to the diner. Feel free to come. Thinking about a portal jump. So get your asses over here."
~Iris

Iris always had a weird way of telling people to go somewhere, but she always got her point across. Alec showed Peter the note, then they walked down to the diner. It was partially on a dock that jutted out, there was a pub and a shitty motel next to it. But the diner, it had great food, so that's what was important. The poutine was a weird dish that the diner specialized in... but enough about that. Alec and Peter walked in, the rest of the team was at the booth at the very end of the diner. Iris waved them over.

"I see you got my note." She said once they made their way over. She smiled.

"Yeah. Portal jump today?" Alec asked.

"Sure. I don't see why not. Hope you don't mind going on an empty stomach though. If we want to do a jump we should go now." Iris said and took a drink of water. "Got your weapon?"

"No, I don't. I don't need a weapon, so let's get to it." Alec said, turning and starting to walk, automatically, the rest of the team followed. Alec was always team leader. Everyone listens to him. Call it a gift. After twenty minutes(ten for finding a place to build a portal, five for making the portal, and another five for the actual jump), they were through. The place was different. There was a lake and a forest, it was a slightly mountainous area, like somewhere one might go on a hike or retreat.

The peace of mind didn't last long. A gunshot rang out, first instinct told Peter to get to the ground, along with everyone else.

"Get down! Now!" Iris shouted. Alec stood for a millisecond too long. A bullet through his upper chest/lower shoulder. He gasped, falling back, rolling a small distance at the force. A man came out from the woods and stood in front of the team, but looked down at Alec and pressed the heel of his boot into the wound. Alec didn't cry out, he didn't make a sound, probably from so much time in pain back in his homeland. Who is that? Peter wondered as he started to get up only to be pulled back down by Iris.

"Don't." Alec remained silent, allowing his shooter to cause him pain and let more blood spill from the wound. Peter stayed still, he was deadly pale, terrified. He had already watched one of the most important people in his life die. He didn't want to watch it again. The man smiled, his teeth, actually, fangs glinted in the sun. Cass stood, she had a silver dagger in her hand. But against a vampire, that wouldn't do much. The only move was to decapitate him. But they were too slow. The shooter had already vanished into the shadows. Sam stood slowly.

"Peter, I don't care if he's your boyfriend, go after him! Cass, you go with, he'll get himself killed." Sam said as he moved to see Alec. Sam sucked in a breath. Peter stood and ran off, Cass at his side. "Damnit Alec, why'd you have to be slow now?" He said as he looked at Iris.

"Can you slow the bleeding. You're the warlock." She sighed.

"I can. But I won't be able to build the portal then."

Cass and Peter returned, breathing heavily. She shook her head when she came to a stop.

"He was too fast. Couldn't catch him. He was a vamp, but wasn't one of the clans we know. Probably a rogue." Cass said as she moved to stand next to Iris. Peter ran to Alec who's breaths were shallow, a pool of blood was around his wound but slowly seeping into the ground. Peter held Alec's head in his lap. He was more scarred for Alec than Alec was for himself.

"Fine then. Iris! Don't just stand there- build a damn portal." Sam shouted. He was taking Alec's roll of leader. Iris obliged, building the portal as quickly as she could. Peter held Alec's limp but still breathing, body, and jumped through the portal, never letting go of Alec for even a second. Alec murmured one word before he blacked out, it actually wasn't a word but a name.

"Lukas."
