"Drag your heart up to the starting line
Forget the ghosts that make you old before your time
It's too easy to get left behind
I know you've been kicked around
But tie up your thoughts and lay them down on me"

"The Starting Line"

Alec climbed out the window to leave his home. God, does no one use a door in this house? No, we don't use doors because we're always going somewhere that we don't want our friends to know about. Alec thought as he looked back at the building and kept walking, and went to the same bar that Peter went to a few days earlier. After ordering a beer and downing it in three gulps, someone walked in who caught his attention. A vampire by the name of Lukas Beaumont. An asshole of a person but the leader of the New York vampire clan. It was very odd to see him in Tofino, British Columbia... Alec kept his head down as he tried to keep from drawing attention to himself.

Almost anyone who knew about the portals and different dimensions and vampires and all that, knew about Lukas Beaumont. Luke, as his friends(which he had very few of) called him, strode over to Alec. Once, a long time ago, Lukas and Alec had been in an alliance to take down some evil guy. But not long after, the two had a falling out and never spoke again. Until now.

"Alexander Caldwell." Luke said, grinning and deliberately showing his fangs. Alec gritted his teeth as he looked up at Lukas.

"Lukas Beaumont. I thought we agreed never to speak again." Lukas shrugged and continued to smile.

"I was in town and well, your blue hair is unmistakable so I decided we had a few things to settle. Maybe try not to kill me, this time?"

"I want to have nothing to do with you. Your deals are dangerous. Almost like making a deal with the devil. And I think we both know how that ends."

"That's what I'm best known for, you know."

"Not the best thing to be known for. Being like the devil, you know." Alec replied with emphasis of the 'you know.'

"Oh but we both know what you're known for." Luke said, a smirk on his face. He was enjoying poking fun at Alec.

"And what would that be?" Alec asked with raised eyebrows.

"You killed people. And over a damn test I might add. C'mon. Everybody in this world knows what you are." Lukas said with a shake of his head. "Even I don't kill people over something as silly as that."

"Why are you here?" Alec said, abruptly changing the subject.

"I already said; we have a score or two that needs settling."

"What "score" needs settling? All I remember is that we had a bit of a falling out."

"Your little winged friend."

"Peter? How do you know- what do you want with him?" Alec asked, furrowing his brow.

"You said you were not recruiting anyone else."

"So? That was a long time ago."

"Get rid of him."

"Why?"

"Because, you failed to do as you said, and now you will have to pay a price. Vampires don't go back on their word."

"Well I'm not a vamp now am I?"

"I could kill him instead. Would you prefer him to live or to die?"

"Live of corse but-" Lukas waved his hand to cut him off.
