THE KINGDOM of Astérix was beautiful. The color blue was everywhere and so was water. In their world there was more water than there was land. Their economy thrived on trading aquatic life.
One year after living in Astérix, she was thrown into diplomatic acts. Her parents waited for her to get settled in before she started to learn how to act like a princess. She was told that she would be representing Astérix.
Always.
It was hard to get used to it at first but eventually she fell into a safe, robotic rhythm. At 11, that was hard to do. Augustine remembered the many arguments she had with her parents but everything worked out in the end. She took up hobbies like ice skating and painting to distract herself when she felt overwhelmed.
The first royals that Augustine meet were from the Solarian realm. Queen Luna orchestrated the meeting, she felt that the her parents owed her a thank you for keeping her safe in her kingdom. Immediately, Augustine decided that she disliked Queen Luna from when she condescendingly said, "Not much of a princess yet, are you?"
Those words stuck to Augustine like glue. She would even say they motivated her to work harder to learn her royal duties.
Princess Stella, Luna's daughter, came along and she was very shocked at her mums comment and gave Augustine a look of pity. Before they left, Stella apologized to Augustine for her mum and Augustine decided that she liked her.
Ever since Augustine worked hard to be the perfect princess. She talked when she was talked to, learned table manners, and her favorite thing to do was engage with Astérixans. Augustine knew that one day she would be Queen. She had no siblings so she was next in line. She wanted to be the best Queen to the people of Astérix. She often volunteered in the hospitals, schools, and held events for the less fortunate.
Augustine was willing to do anything for her people.
Five years later....
Today was the day Augustine would be starting at Alfea.
Her family stood in one of their parlors waiting for the Solarian royals to arrive. Standing next to her parents, Augustine thought about the possibility that she might see Riven there.
Riven.
It had been six years since she had last seen him but she thought of him everyday. He was her best friend, how could she not? Ever since she left the orphanage she wrote him letters.
It was funny at first because he had no idea how she found his address ( she begged her parents until the found it).
They wrote back and forth for five whole years until one day.... he just stopped. She must've sent at least fifty letters but after no replies, she stopped.
She figured they grew apart. It was normal, they couldn't be pen pals forever.
But now the day was here, she was going to Alfea and even though there might not be hope for them; she wanted to see him.
"... I wonder what's taking them so long." Her mum spoke. The Queen glanced at the gold watch on her wrist impatiently. Besides her, her dad chuckled. "Give them a minute, dear, we said noon and it's almost noon."
Adria let out an unflattering groan, "Everyone knows you're supposed to arrive before the given time!"
Augustine laughed, "Mum, calm down!"
