"RIVEN, I swear if you don't get your dirty feet off of me I'm throwing you out the car!" Augustine furiously exclaimed.

"You kiss your mother with that mouth?" The boy shamelessly smirked.

She glared back at him.

"Sorry," Riven mumbled unapologetically then lifted his feet off of her lap.

'Jerk' Augustine cursed in her head. It had been about two hours since they left Alfea to go to whatever secret location her parents had organized for her to stay in.

The ride was not pleasant with her and Riven constantly at each others throats, most likely annoying the poor driver with their bickering.

Not to mention she had yet to inform her parents that Riven had tagged along on her lovely trip.

The car she was given was medium size; dark and spacious, almost as if her parents knew she wouldn't be the only person in the backseat. The seats were covered in a royal dark blue and there was a phone charger, a small snack table and the seats could even turn into a make-shift bed.

The princess continued to ignore Riven's babbling about how she should count herself blessed that he was with her. She looked out the tinted window. Lush green forest were all Augustine could see. The sound of critters in the forest blessed her ears and she felt her lips melted into a soft smile.

However, her peace was distrupted by a loud yawn coming from Riven.

"How long do we have in this car anyways?" He asked, stretching his shoulders then twisting his neck in circles.

Augustine let out an exasperated breath, "I don't know. We've been here for like 2 hours so maybe 3 more hours?"

Riven groaned loudly causing Augustine to snap at him, "You could have just stayed back at Alfea if you were just going to complain."

Riven smirked, "What's the fun in that?"

"Shut up," Augustine muttered. She pulled out her phone and lucky scrolled through it.

There were so many notifications from Stella as well as Terra and Musa. Augustine's heart ached and she felt uneasy considering she didn't even say goodbye to them. The rest of her messages were from Sky who also wanted to know why she abruptly left.

However, there was one notification that caught her eye, it was a notification from the one and only Beatrix.

'Tell Riven I said hi,' read the message.

Augustine made a face at her phone, How'd she get my number?

Quickly she texted back, sending a plain question mark. Instantly Beatrix started texting back.

'He is with you, is he not?' Augustine mouthed profanities under her breath.

Oh.

"What do you look like that?" Riven asked, looking closely at her face. He poked her cheek and she swatted his finger any.

Augustine glanced at Riven's smiling face with a scowl upon hers. "Did you tell your little girlfriend that you left with me?"

Riven looked at her mischievously. He shifted closer to her until he was close enough to count her freckles. "Maybe, and what if I did? Are you jealous she's my girlfriend?"

Augustine felt her cheeks flush at how close they were. Instinctively, she whacked his chest, "You absolute idiot! You weren't suppose to do that!"

He had one job! Augustine thought to herself, she felt annoyed that he had told someone. Even more annoyed because that someone was Beatrix.

Riven winced, "Ouch! Ouch! Okay! I was just joking, I didn't tell her anything!"

"Ugh!" Augustine exclaimed, feeling fustrated.

"And she's not my girlfriend." Riven added, rubbing the area where Augustine hit him.

He stared at the princess while she furiously typed back a response on her phone. "What's it to you anyways, princess?"

Augustine shuddered slightly, ignoring the way him saying her title made her feel. Did she has a small reapearing crush on Riven? Yes, maybe but should certainly couldn't act on it at the moment.

"Nothing, absolutely nothing." Augustine muttered as she texted back her friends.

She was starting to hate Beatrix's elusiveness.

The rest of the car ride was spent with Augustine obsessively checking her phone for a reply from Beatrix (which she didn't get) and Riven who took it upon himself to constantly annoy her.

When they pulled up to the safe house, the Princess wasted no time jumping out of the car and stretching her legs. The smell of fresh country air hit her and she inhaled deeply.

"Finally," Riven yawned stepping out the car.

He lazily walked next to Augustine as she stood in front of the safe house. It was small as expected with vines covering the house from top to bottom. Three brick steps led to the house and a bland doormat laid in front of the brown door.

There weren't many houses closely surrounding them but on their way there Augustine spotted some a couple miles way. The house itself wasn't much to look at but it served its purpose.

Augustine walked back to the back of the trunk giggling at Riven who seemed unimpressed with the house. "So this is it?" he said.

"It's a safe house, Riven, it's not exactly supposed to draw attention." Augustine deadpanned.

Riven rolled his eyes and made his way to the front door. He clutched the door handle and pushed the door open.

While he ventured inside Augustine stayed out and helped the driver unload their bags.

"Don't look around too much, I'll need help with our bags!" Augustine shouted in the direction of the house were Riven shouted back 'Alright!'

"Princess Augustine?" The driver said. Augustine turned her attention to him with a pleasant smile. "Yes?"

The driver was young but not younger than Augustine or Riven, he looked tired like he hadn't slept for days; that made Augustine furrow her brows. She hoped that his tiredness was a cause of something different as she hated to see her people suffering.

The driver offered her a smile back and spoke, "Your parents have provided you with everything you and your travel companion will need for as long as needed. I will be leaving now, my Princess. It is an honor to serve you." He handed her the last of their bags on the.

"Thank you for you help." Augustine said humbly.

He tipped his hat at her as say goodbye. Augustine watched his drive off the cobble road.

Soon after, the confusion settled. Had her parents predicted Riven joining her?

"Wow he really couldn't wait to get away from you." Riven laughed from behind her.

Turning around quickly,?Augustine slapped Rivens shoulder, "You scared me!" She exclaimed.

He snickered, "Sorry." Although like always, he didn't look sorry.

Augustine rolled her eyes; she bent down and picked up two of their bags, "Help me bring these inside?"

Riven winked at her as she walked by him and into the house, "As you wish, Princess."

When she walked in the house, she couldn't shake the feeling that this was the calm before the storm.
