I slept through my first alarm and I almost slept through the second but somehow I got up, rushed to get ready before rushing downstairs to find the basketball outfit I need to pack and yanking my shoes from their drying rack, shoving everything in my bag as I dump the pile near the door. Shoving some cereal in a bowl I take a seat next to Lizzy who looks just as exhausted as I feel. First day is a rough wakeup. mom bustles into the kitchen waving a brush and moving to Lizzies hair. She makes two perfect braids that reach past her shoulders. She has long and thick hair so it looks good in that style.

"Victoria when you are done please can you go hurry Jenny along." I nod, shoving the cereal down before heading upstairs.

"Jenny!" I yell and hear her muffled voice from the bathroom. Pushing the door open I frown, she is still in her pj's there are clothes everywhere and makeup as well. She looks at me with bright worried eyes.

"I don't know what to wear!" I forgot that Ethel usually picks out her outfits with her the night before. I forgot. I feel the guilt grip my chest as I remember I was binge watching NBA finals last night and not thinking about my sisters. Ethel would have thought about them.

"What are the options?" I ask trying to be helpful even though this is way our of my league, there is a lot of skirts, dresses and bright colours. My jeans and oversized basketball shirt does not make the cut.

"A dress, which can be the flower one or the checkered on, a skirt and shirt I have the denim one, the floral one and the midi one and then there are jeans and trousers!" My eyes widen as I take in the options.

"Well what do you like best?" She looks at me with betrayal in her eyes and I cringe, I am really not being helpful. "Should be face time Ethel?" Technically she is away but still very much contactable.

"No, I promised her I can do this, I just forgot last night!" Seems we both did.

"Okay, what did you wear your last first day?"

"I think a dress?" I frown but shrug because her memory is all we have to go o-my eyes widen and I grin pulling out my phone.

"We have all the Instagram posts of our first days!" She nods as if remembering as well and we quickly type in Ethel's Instagram account, scrolling pas all her honeymoon pictures to the first day of school. Sure enough her freshman first day outfit consisted of a floral dress and vans.

"So no dress." I say narrowing it down. "What about your denim skirt and that top you brought when you went shopping with Ethel before the wedding?" I seem to remember the top was a big deal and they were both super happy that it was half off. I was more interested in the fact that the sports channel was on in the store.

"Yes!" I sigh, relieved that I was able to help  her with that and that I am not shaping out to be a terrible big sister, even if I did forget about her last night.  "What about shoes?"

"Converse?" She nods and we move on to makeup, I tell her to go simple because I will be of no help if she messes up.

"Girls?!" Mom yells up the stairs and I grin because Jenny is putting on her last brush of blush.

"Coming!" We bound down the stairs and my mom smiles, telling Jenny she looks cute. She scowls because she was going for a different approach but I do not think your mother can say that you look hot. Not to her 15 year old daughter.

The three of us stand in front of the porch for first day pictures. It is bitter sweet with my mother standing behind the camera and no Ethel with her wide smile and enthusiastic hands. "I am sending this to dad and Ethel." Mom informs us before saying we will be late. I drive Jenny and I to school while Lizzy takes the bus.

"When is dad coming home?" Jenny asks as we are piled in the car and mom starts heading to walk Lizzy to the bus stop.

"I think next week." She goes on a lot of business trips, and s currently in China, has been since the day after Ethel's wedding. She nods before turning the volume up on the stereo and tapping her fingers against the window sill. She hops out as we get to school, promising to meet me by my locker at lunch time so she can get her money.

I nod, locking the car and heading to where my group of friends usually gather in the morning. They are all early birds where as I am constantly running late. Danna and Jake are fooling around with a basketball as usual and Erin is merely scrolling through Instagram on her phone.

"Ready for another year?" I ask as I come closer and disrupt their mini game. Erin smiles, shoving her phone in her pocket and standing up.

"Thank goodness you are here, I was loosing braincells listening to what these two got up to during their summer."

"Love you too." Danna shouts pausing in beating Jake to toss an arm around my shoulder. "Ready for an epic season?"

"Yes." I grin high fiving Jake and stealing the ball easily, spinning it on my finger and shifting it to the other hand. They whistle, laughing as the bell rings and we all head into the school. Here is to another year, our last year at Dainfern Tigers Highschool.
