COLBY MARTIN MADE HIS WAY OUT TO HIS DRIVEWAY. He saw Steve Harrington's car approaching his house. He looked over his shoulder and into the front window, where Cassie was waving at him with a bright smile. Ever she and Steve had... well, started hanging out, she had been a lot happier than ever before.

Colby, who smiled lightly, waved back at her before getting into Steve's backseat, mainly because Robin Buckley had decided to occupy shotgun.

"Good morning, Martin!" greeted Steve cheerfully. "A day of school awaits!"

"Shut up, Harrington." growled Colby, fixing his hair. "Stop trying to kiss my ass— my sister already likes you."

Steve grinned proudly, looking at Robin, who gagged relentlessly. Steve pushed her head jokingly. Then, he looked back at Colby, "So, have you asked any girls to the big game tomorrow?"

"The big game?" repeated Colby, shaking his head.
"No. But I heard you invited Cass. Hey, when are you gonna make that official? Like, put a ring on it."

"Woah! Can't believe we're discussing marriage already." laughed Robin, trying to do her makeup. "Steve isn't even ready to fully commit to a relationship yet."

"That's not true!" denied Steve, huffing irritably. "Listen, here's the thing, we're taking our time. It's not just me, alright? Jesus. We don't wanna rush it. I mean, the last few relationships, if you can even call them that, have had no point other than sex. I don't want that again-"

"Oh, God, Harrington," winced Colby in disgust, "are you having sex with my sister?"

"That's not important." Steve waved off the younger boy's concern. "Listen, I think it's natural for everybody to have relationship issues, right, Robin?"

Robin didn't respond, still doing her makeup.

"Robin! Are you listening?"

"Uh... yes! Yes!" she stammered, irritated by the pestering.

"What did I just say?"

"That you're banging Cassie Martin, or whatever..." mumbled Robin, and Colby made a loud retching noise from the backseat.

"I didn't say that! No!" yelled Steve, throwing his hands up in the air for a second. "No, I'm talking about how we all have relationship problems!"

"Oh, God, cut me some slack, please." groaned Robin, looking back in her mirror. "Love lives, especially yours, is one of the labyrinthine complexity. It is seven in the morning, we have the stupid pep rally-"

"I'm in the stupid pep rally!" Colby spoke up from the backseat, only to be slapped lightly in the face by Robin.

"-and I woke up looking like a corpse!" Robin dramatically stretched her face out with her hands fretfully.
