Hange and I approach the carriage with Moblit tailing behind us as he escorts Pastor Nick.

Armin, Mikasa, and Eren are already waiting in the back. Their faces are mixed with expressions of confusion, concern, and with Armin especially, a touch of fear.

He must have already started putting things together, I sigh to myself, He really is too smart for his own good.

I notice Mikasa sit closer to Eren and rewrap the blanket around him.

She mumbles her concern to him, "Eren, wear it tighter, you'll get a cold."

Hange takes the pleasure of loudly announcing us to the trio, "Sorry to keep you waiting! Took longer to prepare than I thought." she says with a slight smirk towards me, then back to Moblit and Pastor Nick.

Moblit breaks off from us as he goes to the front to coach the carriage. Hange enters the back first and the pastor follows as I give him a light push.

I chuckle lightly as I sit down next to Pastor Nick, "Mikasa you never seem to stop worrying about Eren, it's pretty sweet that you guys are still like this. Although I think he'll be just fine."

She blushes a bit but before she can respond she's cut off by the Captain entering the carriage to sit next to me.

With more than three people on our side of the carriage we have to squeeze together, and suddenly I'm in a Pastor-Captain sandwich. I internally cringe. The horror.

But of course the Captain has to make a remark following mine. Because how could he ever be Humanity's Greatest Nuisance without his sharp tongue? It's impossible.

"What's so wrong with taking care of an acquaintance, Y/N?" he says innocently, yet I know he knows exactly what he's doing. That salty bastard...

I grit my teeth and turn to him sharply, "I never said anything was wrong with it, but people aren't made of glass y'know." He simply stays quiet and leans on his palm as he looks over the edge of the carriage.

Crossing my arms I continue, "Besides, Mikasa and Eren are far from acquaintances by now. I of all people would know that. I practically raised them."

I finally turn back to look at the rest of the carriage's passengers, only to find several pairs of eyes shifting between the Captain and I in uncomfortable silence.

I adjust in my seat under their prying gazes with what little room I have left, and I want nothing more than to break the deafening silence.

That is until I'm able to hear the faintest voice come from the Captain, "...Well, maybe I wasn't talking about them."

My eyes widen a bit, before quickly returning to normal, and suddenly Hange makes a painfully obvious fake cough.

"Ahem! Well, uh, anyways- Moblit! Let's get going, we don't have a minute to waste!" they say, trying to diffuse the tension.

"R-right! Of course commander!" Moblit stutters out awkwardly, and shortly after the carriage starts moving in tow with the others around us.

I scan everyone in the carriage once again to find no more pairs of eyes on me or the Captain, and I let out a small sigh of relief.

By the Walls that was the worst. What the hell is up with the Captain? If it weren't for literal chaos happening right now I would demand some answers from him right here, right now. Even if it did get me suspended from the Scouts.
