Beneath the Moon (Thatch x reader)

Misunderstandings

You whipped around and stared at Thatch who was still looking out the window, the blush on your face was clear even in the darkened room. When you came to the conclusion that he was simply staring out the window you could feel the embarrassment set in, letting out a soft sigh you said, "Is it? Is it a full moon tonight, that usually creates a moon most see as beautiful..."

He glanced over his shoulder to see you staring, quickly realizing that you didn't understand what he was saying to you, "Oh, umm, no. It's a waning moon tonight, if I recall those are your favorite phases of the moon."

Nodding you walked over and stood opposite of Thatch, staring out the window the moon caught your eyes and your eyes lit up, "It really is gorgeous tonight and you're right the waning moon is my favorite. I'm surprised you could remember that from all the way back in high school."

Thatch watched the reflection of the moon and stars in your eyes as you gazed out the window until your eyes forcefully closed as you yawned, "Looks like you are tired, I'll leave you to get some rest then. If you need anything I'm..."

"Right across the hall, I know." After he had left the room the two of you mirrored each other's movements unknowingly. You each softly leaned against the door and slid down to the floor hearts pounding wildly in your chests, Thatch's thoughts whirled around in his head at the fact that he had just confessed while your thoughts were panicking over thinking he had just confessed. Sabo walked up the stairs and down the hallway to see Thatch sitting on the floor his head hung as he stared at the floor.

As he approached, he called out, "Thatch? Everything alright? Why are you sitting in front of the door like that?!"

After hearing Sabo's voice call to Thatch you listened closely to what was happening on the other side of the door, Thatch stood up and stretched out his limbs, "Nothing, just exhausted and heading to my room..."

When you awoke the next morning, you found yourself cursing as you emptied out the bag you had brought trying to wrap your head around the fact that you brought double the amount of pants but no damn shirts, "God damnit! What was I thinking when I packed this damn bag..." Thinking back to it you sighed, "That's right I jut grabbed a ton of stuff and shoved it in I didn't even think to open more than my pants drawer, I was in such a damn hurry to leave..." Throwing the shirt you had worn yesterday back on you quickly peeked your head out your door before rushing over to Thatch's and lightly knocking.

Thatch turned his head toward his door, assuming it was one of his brother's he called out, "Come in!" Walking in you quickly stopped as you saw the sight of him shirtless in front of you, your eyes trailed along his muscles as they contracted as he went to put on his shirt. When he didn't hear anything, he turned his head to see you staring at him, your face flushed a deep red as he watched your eyes widened in horror and embarrassment as they trailed upwards to meet his own. With a small smirk on his face, he didn't break eye contact asking, "Did you need something?"

Quickly averting your eyes but not before you caught his smirk you cleared your throat, "Got a shirt I can borrow...I apparently forgot to pack any at all when I was in such a rush to get out of the building."

He looked down at the shirt he had around his forearms before sliding it off and turning to face you. As he approached you slowly backed away trying to keep the distance between the two of you so he couldn't hear how loudly your heart was beating against your ribs. Eventually you hit the wall with a huff of air leaving your lungs as he came closer still with his shirt in hand. His free hand went to the wall beside your head effectively blocking a quick escape if you should need one unless you took the extra time to duck under his arm, slowly he leaned in closer to you. Your breath caught in your lungs when his face was so close you could feel his breath bouncing off of your own, just as he was about to capture your lips Luffy flung into the room.
