It's amazing how much of an impact that one person can have. After a week away from classes so you could let your injuries heal from the beating that J.C gave you, walking through the school gates again caused a bit of a stir, or in this case, a metaphorical earthquake with how much people stared at you. You were used to stares but these ones were different, even the mutters were different and you knew who was to blame for it.
"Tyrone" you growled his name as you saw him. He was staring at you with a smug smirk as you marched over to him with a piercing glare until you were looming over him, your voice low as you spoke. "So you've been spreading the shit that you were the one to beat me up?" You asked and he feigned ignorance, pretending not to know what you were on about but you spat that he did and that he had better cut it out. "You weren't the one who beat me up, you could never do the damage that J.C could, don't go taking credit for other people's actions" you hissed but he retorted that you did.
"Aren't you the same person who always takes the blame for the crimes the others do?" He asked but said how that was different. "There's a difference between taking the blame for others to keep them out of trouble and taking credit for personal vanity, we are very different people, you are nothing but a freeloading, arrogant piece of shit, even with the kind of people we are, I am better than you" you spat before you stepped back and turned around to see the crowd that had gathered.
"For all of you who genuinely believed that he beat me up, you're all morons! He just took credit to make himself look better!" You shouted before walking away only to then be approached by Lizzie who asked to talk to you about something, you raising an eyebrow as she looked a little unnerved.
You asked what it was but she said she wanted to talk in private and so you followed her to a more quiet place where she looked around to make sure nobody was listening before turning to you. She looked nervous, a genuine unease on her face as she said how she had been noticing some things over the weekend, things that she wanted to be certain of before talking to you about it so that was why she hadn't called or texted you about it. From her voice you could tell she was a little afraid.
"Has someone been hassling you?" You asked and she replied how that's what she's nervous about. "Over the weekend, when it was late, I felt like someone was lurking around outside, the motion sensors kept turning on lights but when I looked I couldn't see anyone" she said and you raised an eyebrow, asking if she was sure it wasn't just some animals wandering her garden or anything and she admitted how that was what she thought at first. "But it started happening more and more the later it got, still going on even after it turned midnight, I didn't get much sleep on Saturday" she said and you started to notice the bags under her eyes.
You asked what happened the day before seeing she said it happened over the weekend and Lizzie replied now that was what confirmed that someone was lurking around. "It started with the lights from motion sensors but then someone started shining a light through my window and banging on it, I hid away and stayed out of sight but the person kept it up for about half an hour" she said and you muttered how that is dedicated harassment before asking if she had any idea who it may be but she shook her head.
She said that she was too scared to even try and look at who it was and that they kept it up past midnight again, making her lay awake even after just in case they came back as they kept banging on her doors and windows. You shook your head and told her that she should have called or texted you; "I told you to do so if you're getting any trouble" you spoke in a chastising tone and Lizzie looked away.
"It was past midnight, I wouldn't have wanted to wake you" she said and you shook your head before saying she should have at least called the police, something that admittedly didn't cross her mind at the time. You would have chastised Lizzie again but she looked so tired that you'd feel like you were yelling at a wall so you suggested that she go home to try and get some sleep but she shook her head, saying she didn't want to mess with her sleep pattern as if she went to sleep through the day then she would be awake all night.
