I took Ejiro by the hand and walked over to the pile of pillows. I sat down and then pulled him down next to me. We sat there under the stars for quite a while just holding hands in a comfortable silence.
As we gazed into the night, I couldn't stop thinking about everything that had happened this past week. So much has changed. I've changed. I just hope that I can continue moving in the right direction of becoming better with my emotions.
I must have had another scowl on my face because Ejiro reached out and placed his hand on my cheek. "Hey? What's that look for?" He asked, his face filled with concern.
I reached my own hand up to thread my fingers together over his. I pulled his hand to my lips, kissing his palm softly. "Sorry, old habits. I'm worried about my emotions. I know the quirk is gone but I really do want to do better. I'm just not sure how."
"Katsuki," he says as he squeezes my fingers. "It'll be fine. First off, you never back down from a challenge. And second, you have me now. And I will be with you every step of the way. I will love you no matter what."
"You have no idea how happy it makes me, hearing those three little words from you." I lean in close and give him a quick kiss on the cheek. "I love you, Ei, and I know that I can do anything, especially with you by my side."
I pull him into a hug and then we both fall back onto the pillows. Still holding hands, we talk as we watch the night sky. At some point Ejiro scooted closer to me, resting his head on my chest. I wrapped my arms around him, pulling him close and feeling completely content for the first time in I don't know how long.
At some point we must have fallen asleep for the next thing I hear is giggling and someone whisper yelling, "Quiet or you'll wake them up!"
"Ugh, too late." I mutter as I slowly open my eyes. It's still dark out so I have no idea what time it is but since the fairy lights are still on I can see Mina, Denki, and Shinsou looking down at us. "What are you guys doing up here? And what time is it?"
"Well, lover boy," Mina starts. "We came to see if you needed help cleaning up. And it's about 11:30."
I look down and Ejiro is still asleep with his head resting on my chest. I can't help but smile at how cute he looks. Then, as I remember we have an audience, I feel my cheeks start to flush. I glance up at my friends to see their reactions. Denki is grinning like an idiot. Mina is trying to suppress her giggles. Worst of all, Shinsou is just giving me this look like he knows exactly how I feel.
"Shut up." I mumble and look away from them. I then gently start to shake Ejiro's shoulder. "Hey Ei, we need to get up and head inside."
He snuggled closer to my chest and mumbled, "I'm too comfy."
"Ahhh!" Mina squealed. "They are just toooo cute!"
Ejiro's eyes popped open wide when he heard her. He slowly looked around and, once he realized we had company, his face became flushed. "Oh, hey guys." He said as he sat up. "Um, how long have you guys been here?"
"Long enough to see how well your night went." Denki answered while wiggling his eyebrows.
"We've only been here a few minutes," Shinsou added while nudging Denki to chill out.
"Now come on and get up!" Mina practically yelled at us. "We have to get this all cleaned up, aanndd, you have to tell us what happened!"
I smirked at her. "My boyfriend and I don't have to tell you anything."
"BOYFRIEND!" Mina squeaked, her voice getting higher pitched. "Oh my goodness!" She then reached down and pulled Kiri up into a hug. "I'm so happy for you two."
She smiled at both of us and then helped Kiri to stand all the way up. "Unfortunately, we have to get this all cleaned up tonight, so get to work."
As I was getting up myself, Shinsou turned to me and says, "I see your hair is back to normal. Is the effects of the quirk finally finished?"
"Yes, thank fuck," I reply. "I plan on talking with Mr Aizawa in the morning just to be sure. But I have confessed my feelings to everyone that made my hair change, so I should be all done."
Kiri looked over at us with a huge grin on his face. "Yeah, and he saved the best for last."
I threw a pillow at him. "Stop being such a sap." I then turned back to Shinsou and quietly say, "He's not wrong, but he's definitely a sap."
With a knowing smile, Shinsou nodded and turned to help clean up the roof.
Within in ten minutes, Hanta and Jiro joined us to help too. It didn't take long after that, Jiro took the dishes inside to the kitchen. Hanta taped the chairs and table together and then lowered them down the side of the building to the back patio. Mina took down all the fairy lights and the speaker with the help of Eijiro. Shinsou, Denki, and myself got all the pillows put away. Once everything was done, our friends all said good night and left.
Ei and I were now standing at his dorm door, holding hands, and softly looking into each other's eyes.
Ei broke the silence first with a small smile on his face. "Thank you for such a wonderful day. It has been amazing and I am so happy that I can finally call you mine."
"I hope I can give you many more days that are just as wonderful as you." I say as I lean in and give him a quick kiss on the check.
Ejiro's face turns quite red as he responds with, "Look who's being sappy now."
He then gently grabbed my shirt and pulled me closer for one last kiss goodnight. It was soft and sweet and we both lingered for a few moments. Neither wanting the night to end, but also not wanting to go too far.
I slowly pulled back and, with my eyes still closed, whispered, "I love you so much, Ei."
I opened my eyes as he whispered back, "I love you, too." He then opened his door and went inside.
I made my way to my own room and as I got ready and crawled into bed, my only thought was this day had been perfect.
