andddd with that, the missing book from this book series has come to an end. i know, i know, so sad. i'm glad I did it, and at some point in my life i'll rewrite it again, and again like i do everything. i rushed a little bit because i'm in love with some plans going back over to among the stars that i'm so excited to get started on. summer is only barely started, maybe closer to half way finished and i did want to get started on some other books i've procrastinated doing so excuse my absence.
there has always been just a hole in the timeline because i'm a lazy bitch who just needs to write "what i want now", and that'll never go away, but i care about these characters and stories i've made and i'm going back through for a third time with much more care and experience and understanding of what i've created. i hoped you enjoyed it as much as i have given this, besides the first arc of ATS, is my first original work that is completely my own—disregarding the characters and franchise.
now that the sappy bullshit is over (i'm emotional, shush), the secrets you've been waiting for. i thought it would be cute to show hidden things that i put thought into you may have not have noticed.
1. st. clair's, their speakeasy, was actually named after stephanie st. clair who was the "queen of numbers." a gangster, civil rights advocate, fashionista and businesswoman, she took on one of the biggest crime bosses of the era. it was a little preview of maria and ellie's characters and who they were during that time period.
2. barron, the twins' last name, means Nobel fight or warrior. standing for who they are.
3. le milieu was the father's gang name because it means "the underworld", which is also what organized crime is called in france during that time. their mother was french, kind of mentioned once, so it developed from that.
4. maria and ellie are actually based off and exaggerated versions of me and emily, the girl whom used to be my best friend
5. anthony was bumblebee's name because of a joke between me and a that said ex friend while texting in my newspaper class. she though the word 'ant' inside of it was ironic when brainstorming names for characters.
6. starcrossed received it's name because it represents that they defied what destined to tear them apart
7. in the cover, eclipse is getting dragged down into the city, quite literally shackled by chains because she was sent there not by choice. her crown floating off to symbolize how she is leaving her entire life that was "destined" to be her place in royalty, losing it unwillingly as it flies off of her. the red tint, so different from the ATS cover representing the blood-shed, and obviously bee reaching after her desperately even if it meant he had to fall too.
8. there was supposed to be an amusement park fight scene, but then I got impatient and changed the plot line for the 600000 time.
9. and is it obvious that I think things out wayyyy to meaningfully.
remember that. cause they're hidden in plain sight I promise.
