TW mentioned burns
Please let me know if I missed anyRanboo
Today would be the day I search the other tunnel, and maybe make this a bit more of a home.
I got up, and grabbed my satchel, slinging it over my shoulder.
I placed my hand against the wall, and let it guide me farther into the cave.
I still had a limp, but I didn't want to sit there and do nothing.
The farther I walked, the colder it got.
The cave kept going downwards, until I heard the faint drip of water.
There was an unknown amount of water in this cave. I continued walking, and the floor changed from the cold stone I'm used to now, to a squishy soft surface.
I could feel the cave getting bigger as I walked.
And I ran into a mess of leaves, and berries.
Why didn't I think of glow berries as a food source?
Wait, glow berries?
They are only found in lush caves.
Am I in a lush cave?
I walked around, careful of the puddles of water on the floor.
I did burn my feet several times, but that isn't important.
My internal clock told me it was around sunset, so I grabbed some moss, some glow berry vines, and after a long search, and a few more burns, I found a few drip leaves.
I carefully made my way back to the wall, and walked back to my sleeping area.
I set down all of the things I gathered, and began sorting through them.
I attached the glow berry vines to the wall, so they could grow roots towards the ceiling.
Then I curved the drip leaves into bowls. Drip leaves were water resistant, and strong, so they would work perfectly.
I placed the blackberries into one of them, and set it to the side.
I picked up my cloak off the ground, and replaced it with the moss.
I sat down, and pulled out my book.
Tomorrow I will put some glow berry vines near the entrance of the cave.
I lied down and inhaled the scent of moss. It smelled earthy, but with the musky scent that is always in a cave.
I covered myself with the cloak. It smelled of dust, and cave musk too, but with the faint scent that is always in my room.
I miss home.
---------------------morning-----------------------
I got up, and grabbed a few of the glow berry vines still lying around.
I also decided to begin keeping track of the days.
So I made my way to the cave entrance, and attached the glow vines to the walls.
I turned to the left wall, drawing a small line with my claw..
I went over it again and again, until I could feel a dip where the line was.
I did that with several more lines.
Now I had four lines engraved into the stone. One to represent each day spent here.
Four days.
I sighed, knowing I could do better things than sit at the entrance.
An idea formed.
I walked out of the cave, feeling the sun pour over me.
After a few steps, I turned to face the cave. I knelt to the ground, and started scratching the stone.
I kept my lines small, so I could properly trace them. I worked until noon.
Now I had a weakly engraved word.
\/\/ [- |_( () /\/\ [-
I will go over it again tomorrow.
With a sigh I walked back to my sleeping spot to grab a dripleaf bowl.
Next thing on my nonexistent agenda was to map out the deeper area of the cave.
After too many sharp places on the cave wall, I decided to use my claws instead of my hands.
I ran my claws along the stone wall, and worked my way down.
Once I was down to the lush cave, I did a perimeter sweep.
There were three places where the cave went deeper, and I blocked those off with tall dripleaves for the time being.
But other than that, it full circled back to the entrance.
Now is the time to find where all the water is.
I found several little puddles. I scooped up the water in the small puddles with my dripleaf bowl, and formed a few bigger places where the water pooled.
Now, instead of a bunch of small puddles of water, I had four big pools of water.
It's safe to say that took all afternoon and evening.
But it was worth it.
I made my way back to my sleeping area. The moss is very soft, and I like it much more than the stone.
I have to go over the WELCOME again tomorrow.
I used my book more for reminding than for remembering.
There wasn't much to remember.
