"I'm sorry Ranboo, my fingers slipped." I said as soon as everything blinked back into existence.

"It's okay. But I still don't know your name."

"It's Wilbur. Do you know what happened?"

As my senses adjusted, something didn't seem right. I didn't recall Ranboo's room being so dark.

"That was what happened when I fell." He said quietly. "One moment I was surrounded by the muffled noise of water, and the next, I heard that sound and everything changed."

Everything seemed wrong to me. "Ranboo," I said slowly,"where are we?"

He seemed to think for a moment. "My sense of smell was knocked out because of the water, what do you smell?"

I sniffed the air. "It's musty, like a cave."

Ranboo smiled softly in the dim light. "Are there vines anywhere?"

I looked around. "Yeah, there are vines on the wall, and a vine to your right that gives off light."

His smile grew a bit more, "feel the cave walls, are there ridges on them?"

I ran my hand over the wall, it was a lot smoother than the average cave wall, but no ridges.

"Not on this wall."

"Try the other wall."

I shifted Ranboo off of my lap, and stood up, walking over to the other wall. It was also smooth, and I felt four thin dips in the wall.

"It feels like someone raked the wall with a giant fork." I said, turning back to Ranboo.

He smiled even more, "Wilbur, welcome to my home."

I sputtered. Ranboo has been living in a cave for the past four years.

He hissed in pain as he tried to get up.

I walked over, and held a hand out. "Need help?"

He held his hand out in my direction, and I took it. Carefully pulling him to his feet.

Ranboo carefully padded over to the other wall, and slotted his claws into the dips. He walked a few paces one way, before shaking his head, and walking the other way.

"Come on."

We walked for a bit, the only light being the dim glow some of the vines emitted.

I couldn't wait any more.

"I'm sorry Ranboo." I said quietly.

I saw his ears perk up inquisitively.

"What for?" He asked, stopping.

I took a deep breath, "I know you don't remember this, or me, or Tubbo, or your life before this, but we got into a fight, and you ran away." I paused before whispering, "and we never found you."

He seemed to think about it for a moment before he continued walking. "It's okay," he said softly.

I thought about it as we walked.

He's lying

But the pieces were falling into place.

The lines on the cave wall. . . I put a new one on every day.

The dream I had, and how similar the voices were.
