"What do mean Shroud?" Eret asked patiently.

"It's not supposed to end that way! They always recover his memory!" Shroud said indignantly.

Michael gave a teary-eyed nod, this story always made him cry, but he loved it.

"You said to change the ending of the story." He said with a small smile.

"I like the original better." Shroud huffed.

"Okay." Eret said with a laugh.

"Then let's go back a bit."

---------------------------------------------------------

"We could've found you." Wilbur said quietly.

"I'm so sorry Ranboo."

"It's okay. According to you, I went missing 4 years ago." Ranboo shrugged.

"But we could've done more." He whispered, dragging his hand across the lines.

Ranboo dipped his head, and walked back, deeper into the cave.

"Stay here."

Ranboo made his way to his sleep spot, and fished out 2 objects from a carved shelf.

Once they reached the surface, Ranboo shoved the two objects at Wilbur, who recognized them as a worn book, and a piece of folded fabric.

"Take me somewhere that something important happened," he gestured to the book, "and read me that day."

Wilbur recognized the book as Ranboo memory book, and the fabric as his cloak.

He flipped through the pages. He could see the shifts in writing. At first it was very neat handwriting, then after he became blind it was all over the place. It got better over the week.

Then there was no ink or lead on the page, just indents of words.

After that the indents were written backwards, with nothing on the back of the page.

Then letters began being replaced with shapes.

In the days that followed,Wilbur lead Ranboo around, describing places, and reading the writing in his journal, until finally-

Wilbur and Tubbo lead Ranboo to the meadow.

"This is what started this whole mess." Wilbur said with a smile. After 2 weeks of helping Ranboo recover his memory, and a lot of convincing from Ranboo, Wilbur forgave himself, and realized that Ranboo running away wasn't entirely his fault.

"I thought you said the lighting was what started this mess!" Ranboo exclaimed with a laugh.

"Well yeah, but it contributed to it." Tubbo replied smiling.

"Thank you for forgiving Tommy." Ranboo said, sitting down in the meadow.

"Thank you for convincing me that I needed my brother." Wilbur replied, flopping down next to Ranboo.

"Thank you for coming back." Tubbo said, taking a seat on the other side of Ranboo.

"Did you guys ever have the tournament?" Ranboo asked after a moment.

"No we didn't actually." Wilbur laughed. His laugh was filled with joy.

"Can we do it now?" Ranboo asked shyly.
