Lucy had no words to describe whatever emotions she was feeling. The fusion had worked. Suzy was clearly functional, and she assumed the soul absorbed wasn't too angry about the situation. But Suzy's question caused the girl to pause, the girl unsure of what to make of such a question. And with her was MK, who had been more excited than she was, even with his worries. But that didn't mean he understood why she'd asked for another soul, and that was what got him to pause his celebratory jumps.
"Huh?" Did he hear that right? He wasn't sure, especially when Lucy wasn't answering.
"The red soul," Suzy reiterated, smile empty of emotion. "Will you help us?"
Ah, so they did hear that right. "...But... You only need the green one, I thought-"
"We need the red soul." An air of impatience began to settle around Suzy, as if she were trying to keep from threatening her fellow fusion. "There's more work to be done, and they will help with it."
"Yo- Wait, what work?" MK questioned, confused. And as Suzy took a step forward, MK found himself taking a step back. "You're physical now, right? We can go home again! You should come with me-"
"Not yet." Suzy's expression quickly contorted into one of frustration, but it quickly grew neutral as she got control over herself. "...When our work is complete, you will understand. Now, please." A ring of ghostly green fire appeared circling behind Suzy's head. "Fetch us the red soul."
Lucy had seen enough.
With little hesitation, Lucy made the call, garnering control of his legs just to make the turn and run. Surprisingly enough, MK didn't resist either, following along and allowing her to retreat back to controlling his arms. Clearly, this was something he hadn't expected. Clearly, they were in over their heads. And that was enough to get them to work together as they ran away from the monster's shouting sister. As they ran, fire whizzed past their heads and angry screams filled the air, screams about loyalty, broken promises, betrayal to the highest degree, how much the two had never cared for them. Them. Plural, both Suzy and, presumably, Elsen; but Lucy didn't think much about it. She just wanted to get away from there, and only when the screaming dissipated did she even bother letting their body rest.
Slinking down into some sea grass, MK's tail curled around him as he ducked his head, shaken up by the ordeal. He'd only wanted to help. He'd only wanted his sister, and yet... "W-What was that-?" The boy shook and shook as he stared at the ground, tears brimming in his eyes while he searched for an explanation. "Lucy-? What was that..."
But sadly, Lucy had even fewer answers for him. '...I don't know. I...' What was that indeed? She couldn't answer. She didn't know Suzy. She knew Elsen, but not Suzy, and this... something just wasn't right, and as to who may have caused this, she didn't know.
"That green soul!" Unfortunately, MK disagreed. "They must've- She must've- Yo it's the green soul-!"
'It wasn't Elsen!'
"Then who was it?!" The monster's voice rose quickly, one of his hands slamming over it in response.
'Hush! We don't know how far they can get!'
"Why're you picking on me?!"
'I'm not!'
"You are!" MK then threw his head back onto his knees, his tail coiling tighter around him as the tears began to fall. "I just wanted to help! She- She didn't deserve to be there! I just wanted...!"
