I shall remember
And never forget
The poetry spilling so quick from your lips
And lighthearted music from your fingertips
And the shine in your eyes when you smiled.

I shall remember
And never forget
The warmth in my heart as you held me that night
And the way your hair looked in the silver moonlight
And the cant of your head as you listened.

I shall remember
And never forget
The weight of your armor, your sword in my hand
And slaying your foes till I barely could stand
And knowing I no longer knew you.

I shall remember
And never forget
The sound of your name past the spear in my chest
And lying too close to you at your behest
And the salt of your tears on my lashes.

I shall remember
And never forget
The smile on your face when you finally fell
And the ache in my chest, though I knew you so well
And just one of us mentioned in grieving.

And I shall remember
And never forget
So soon in the past
Though I feel it still yet
The rush when we lighted the darkness on fire
Your tears and your sobs, and the sound of your lyre
And you, safe in my arms, at last.
