"Are you sure this is a good idea?" I asked, clutching the straps of my backpack.
"Of course! I've seen it, you'll be fine!" Alice chirped. Alice, along with the other Cullens, was excited. Edward thought it would be a good idea for me to join the family and attend Forks High School. I hated the idea at first and refused to go, but Edward said he would be there for me. That was enough for me to at least try going for a day.
"What's the cover story? I feel like people will think it's suspicious if I just appear out of nowhere."
"We'll just say you're Carlisle's niece. You visited us a month ago and grew attached to Forks. With permission from your parents, you decided to stay here until you graduate from high school. Simple." She said as she messed with my hair. My stomach dropped at the mention of my parents, considering that my parents probably didn't know where I was. Part of me wanted to call them and apologize, and the other part of me wanted to pretend like they didn't exist.
"What if someone knows who I am? What would happen if someone realized I'm the missing girl from Texas?"
"Don't worry about that. Carlisle already dealt with that." Her words intrigued me, but I didn't ask her to elaborate. I could ask later when I wasn't stressing out about starting a new school. I heard heavy footsteps and looked to see Edward fast approaching. He had a grin on his face that made me melt.
"Okay, let's get going. We don't want to be late for your first day."
I rolled my eyes. "I'm still not excited."
He laughed. I could have sworn it was the best sound I've ever heard. He smiled at me, taking my hand as he led me to his silver Volvo. Before I knew it, we were already halfway to school. I couldn't help but panic as I came up with a million different scenarios. I felt my heart beat pick up as I heard it in my ears. Just before I panicked, Edward lightly touched my arm. I looked at him as he moved his hand towards mine and squeezed it.
"Vecky, it will be okay. People will talk, but it'll die down before you know it. Don't worry, I'm here for you." He said. I smiled at him as I took a deep breath.
"Thank you, Edward. I really appreciate it."
He nodded. "Of course."
Edward pulled the car into the school's parking lot. I looked around at anything that I could see. The building, the few cars here, a teacher getting out of his car, students looking at the silver car pull in, etcetera. Edward immediately went to a certain spot and parked. We sat in the car in silence for a bit as we looked at each other.
"Why are we here so early?"
"I thought you might want some time to get used to the area. I didn't want to overwhelm you by making you have to deal with a crowd of students talking about you." He said. Edward was so thoughtful. I appreciated everything he's done for me.
"Thank you."
With that, we got out of the car. He took me to the front office where I got my schedule, locker and lock, and a sheet that I had to have every teacher sign. Edward took it upon himself to show me where all of my classes were. I was happy to find out that I shared almost all of my classes with a Cullen. It made me less stressed, since I knew I wouldn't be totally alone.
Once we were done with Edward's brief tour, we headed back outside and waited for the others to show up at his Volvo. By then, more people were showing up, and people were definitely talking. I cursed under my breath about how nice it would be to have supernatural hearing right now. Edward laughed.
Alice, Jasper, Emmett, and Rosalie showed up a few minutes before school started. We all talked in a little group until we heard the first bell ring. I sighed dramatically as I looked around the group of vampires. Alice came up to me and linked our arms.
