"...the investors have been looking forward to the project since they received the documents regarding the plan." the presenter spoke in front of the directors surrounding an oval table and the head chair was owned by none other than Wilrin Jack.

He scanned and listened to the final output and nodded, "Once the acquiring of the land is finished, we can proceed to the initial step." he spoke which made the presenter sigh in relief and was congratulated by the directors for a job well done.

"Been a long time since we saw you," the head director shook hands with Wilrin, "Will you stay longer this time?"

Wilrin smiled, "Until the land has been acquired, guess I'll tarry around."

The head director laughed, "Then it won't be long, this land had long been the target of our company and the small business owners already agreed with the conditions to be made once the proposal has been fully signed. You don't need to worry a bit Sir." They were only a branch company of the Jack Corporation and seeing the CEO in flesh shows how important this matter was to him.

Wilrin smiled and turned towards the glass window of the room where it shows the old center avenue near the bridge of this town, in the distance, he could see the old abandoned building where the lines of shops were situated on its perimeters. That place was just a part of the land that they were about to acquire and a grin appeared on his face.

"I won't stay for long Director, I remembered I have something to do today."

The moment he reached the car he immediately told Mr. Cruz, his driver, "Where are those coins?"

"Sir?" Mr. Cruz asked back, bewildered.

Wilrin opened the car door and had a playful expression as he looked at his driver, "We will get someone to teach us how to handle money properly."

...

Marites cried for hours and John had no choice but to let her be, handling the customers and those passersby who came to get only a piece of newspaper. The heat was intense this summer season and spoke, "It's too hot there, won't you come out for a while?"

But Marites didn't even budge as she sniff with all the tears on her face, cramping herself on their old, wooden counter. John turned back to her and said, "Come on, it's not like he's your first man."

And he immediately regretted opening his mouth when Marites raised her head with her glaring, red eyes and yelled, "I THOUGHT HE WAS MY LAST JOHN! MY LAST! BUT THAT DAMN LAZY, STUPID OLD MAN HAD THE NERVE TO CHEAT ON ME! WE'RE ALREADY 40!"

And that's it, the old lady started to express her words of anger and hatred, from a grieving woman to an exploding volcano, making their old bookstore loud and a head-turner for those passing people on the street. John then saw that it was their lunch time again and stood.

"Will get us some lunch," he said amidst the rambling of Marites. Marites or Mari had the same age as him, usually paired by the neighbors since they were both left out of love.

Loveless and alone but compared to John who already settled with being alone, Mari had several on and off relationships that even made her miserable. He learned from her that there was no good in playing feelings. That was the lesson he took in. He was about to cross the street when he noticed the familiar BMW car, the latest one with its shining and polished black color but what made him frozen was when the door opened and revealed the handsome young man from earlier.

He saw him and waved to John with his bright smile. John flinched in surprise seeing that this man was waving at him, he looked at his sides then to his back and saw none so he pointed to himself.
