Chapter 16 - Happy and Handsome

After 8 months, the Jack's project on the small town finally commenced. The businesses around the central avenue finally left and took their compensation without a complaint since they barely get a proper income for years. Despite it, this area was still the most bustling space in the whole town and Jack took this best opportunity to lengthen their branches locally and globally.

The place was cleared and it was now plain ground as the construction will soon start. This day, the Jack Corporation would lead their groundbreaking ceremony in front of the town officials and its people as they also let the investors joined them in announcing the official start of a great change in the small town.

Everyone was in bliss since it won't only just become a focal point of their streets but also the job openings that would benefit their current economy. Almost all of the people came to celebrate and several of them wanted to see the famous young CEO that would lit up everything with his smile and bright countenance.

Wilrin led the group in taking their shovel to officially announce the groundbreaking. Then they give speech to everyone present.

While everyone was having their own business, Mari was looking around the crowded place. She looked at Wilrin sitting in front, smiling to the speeches of his team then to places that the old man would be watching. She shoved several people as she looked around but she didn't saw the old man!

She wanted to scream his name but that would be very embarassingl in the middle of this big event.

"Where the hell is that man?" she muttered as her eyes traveled around but she landed on someone. She only saw the sideview but the nose and posture was so familiar to her. Her eyes squinted as she went near and when pat the man's shoulder, her eyes widened seeing the very familiar face, round eyes, small nose and pouty lips but compared to last time they met, John was still thin and timid but the one she was seeing right now was a complete new form!
She cupped his cheeks then checked his head and arms, it was John but got fatter and younger!
"Mari?" the old man called. And Mari couldn't help but to be mesmerized, John just became a high schooler again! She then pulled him on a tight hug, she no longer felt the curved bones and malnutrition body he had but it was now fleshy and soft! She wanted to squish him so bad!
"You idiot! You dared to forget about me! You didn't even came after you arrive!"

John sighed with his usual defeated look that didn't changed, "We just arrive at the last minute before the celebration start, we wanted to look for you after this."

Mari rubbed the tip of her nose as she felt proud, "You better be!" she then pushed the man out of flattery and John stumbled on the side from her gorilla strength but she stopped smiling when John suddenly winced and placed his hand at the back of his waist abruptly.

"You alright?" she asked seeing his hand took support on his waist.

John nodded, "I'm fine." he said.

Mari smirked, "What? Did he pounded you all night?"

John immediately brushed hearing it and stuttered, "W-W-What are you talking about?"
Mari laughed whole-heartedly, "Come on, young men these days are wild and uncontrolled."

John didn't want to speak of it and turned to just stare at Wilrin ahead as the sound of cheer and laughter filled the area. They were clapping and praising the young man who was full of dreams and vigor. Everyone admired him.

"Now that you're here, I wanted to ask you about that text I received last month? Did you both fought?" Mari turned to him.

John pondered and soon remembered it as an awkward smile appeared on his face, "Ah, that time." he paused and was a bit hesitant but spoke it, "Wilrin took me abroad and we were alone..."
